Jager Drinker (doesn't post much)(Kansas City Good bye Cadillac commercial guy. :P you remember that thread) :D --- and a few other of my Blue Springs & Independence peoples/posters were trying to remember what a Hobby Store was called.

This was in the early to mid eighties

As you approached Dillards from Original Pizza, it was the first store actually on that same floor as the food court - it too was about the size of Swiss Pretzel - just a food court restaurant size boutique of sorts. They carried train sets, key chains, banners, D&D shit like that - I went there to spend my allowance on new unique beer cans, which I used to collect. Somebody said Hobby Haven and the more I think about it - I think that MAY have been it, but I also was thinking Hobby Haven was upstairs in one of the mall coves. So I'd batted that down.

Feel free to simply reminisce as we brainstorm. I used to wear out that Dillards there in that mall. I'd buy a Polo or Tommy button-up per month.

I loved Original Pizza.

But yes - Do any of you recall the name of this cool little store way back when....?

Bowser,

Honestly I'm not sure - this was SO long ago - I just remember it was on the same level as the food court and one of the first shops off to the right aligned near the food court, close to the ramp working upward into Dillards, looking at the map - I'm struggling pinpointing EXACTLY where I'm talking - that map isn't great.

I know I know ' a poor carpenter blames his work on his tools ' - LOL -

I remember renting VHS tapes from a store on noland back in the late 80s/early 90s. They sold TVs and other electronics. cant remember the name?

They also had a porn section back behind a curtain.

My sister may know - that's the one though - pretty sure it was across from venture a little further North down Noland - as in maybe 2 blocks. wasn't that the one? It was just a man's name and then the word Video. Something like Ron's Video - or something.

Yes sir - I bought a pair of black retro Reebok black 'glove leather' kicks.

For really cheap - of course one was a 10.5 and the other shoe was and 11. No I'm joking - but most things were defective/2nd's etc etc..... We only went there a few times. But mom and I always bought a few items - It was basically a ghetto Srvc Merchandise.

D & D was pretty darned cool though when you're around 13 - The novelty beer cans were pretty badass - the store was really cool, mainly because it was so small - yet jam packed w/ things like magic kits and rare pewter figurines and the sort.

Just a Dillard's left open is all. It is suppose to be torn down and replaced with a strip mall about 2/3 rds the size of metro north.

Ford uses most of the parking lot to store some of its new vans or trucks.

The same company that owns zona rosa will be building this.

Management for Metro basically fucked it into the ground. Tenants were paying exorbitant rent on their little spaces and everyone just left. Zona opening didn't help anything, but Zona hasn't been the overwhelming popular success they envisioned, either.

Rumor has it that they have decided to redevelop the mall, but making it a single story shopping center this time around. Currently there is a Macy's there and a whole shit ton of Ford vans sitting in the parking lot.

Exactly, they charged high rent and stores just kept moving out.
You would think they would bring down the rent but as they say pride comes before the fall.

It's Cargo Largo now, and it's huge. They've pretty much opened the entire space to shoppers. I can remember when it was just a little room at the front doors.

Not always as easy to find deals. MoF, the food is often more expensive than you can find it on sale in a regular store.

But it often pays to browse. We were in the market for a new PC case, and as I'm looking at one I notice a MOBO inside. Ended up getting an i7 with a TB HD and 32Gb Ram for $19.99

Win8 and Office 2014 installed as well.

It's one of those rip off kids place that you put money in these game machines you play that spits out tickets to redeem for prizes. They even have a tilt a whirl and a little roller coaster in it.
Like a chuck e cheese minus the pizza. Parents can spend a small fortune in the place for resulting in a cheap Chinese made toy

I take my kids to Dave and Busters a week or two ago. Spent about 45-50 bucks in game cards.
