ARRESTED FOR SOLICITING PROSTITUTE
7 MINUTES AGO BY TMZ STAFF

Warren Sapp was arrested in Phoenix this morning for soliciting a prostitute around 7AM ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Sapp was also arrested for assault.

The 42-year-old "Dancing with the Stars" alum was booked just a few minutes ago.

Sapp was in Phoenix covering the Super Bowl for the NFL Network.

It's not Warren's first arrest -- he was busted in 2010 for domestic battery, but those charges were eventually dropped. He was also arrested for an alleged domestic battery in Miami in 2014.

WARREN SAPP'S EX-WIFE
YOU STILL OWE ME $3 MILLION

EXCLUSIVE
1231-warren-sapp-tmz-01

Warren Sapp ain't out of his ex-wife's doghouse yet ... at least according to court docs which show the NFL legend has still not paid more than $3 million in back support ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Here's the deal ... Sapp filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy back in 2012 ... and all of his many, many debts were made public.

One of those debts is owed to Jamiko Sapp ... the mother of two of his children ... who claimed Warren owed $3,104,207.20 in "domestic support obligations."

Well, according to new docs filed Monday in Florida bankruptcy court, Warren has only repaid $8,236.85 ... less than 1% of the debt.

Meanwhile, Sapp is still living pretty high on the hog ... making $100k bets with rappers and test-driving fancy cars.

We reached out to both Warren and Jamiko for comment -- so far, no word back.

According to Tim Green's book The Dark Side of the NFL more of them have a hard time getting a date. People confuse the superstars with the non-superstars who get women easily. That was news to me. It's a good read, though he's no Faulkner or Hemingway.

This is completely false. There are thousands and thousands of young girls and women being forced into sex trafficking under the clever disguise of "prostitution" in America, and millions around the world. It's the number two criminal enterprise in the world, behind only drug trafficking.

If the argument against the war on drugs is to legalize and regulate, does the same thing apply to prostitution? It seems like they're more or less identical situations.

You'd think police have more pressing maters like oh I dunno, maybe catching murderers or rapist or someone actually commiting a violent crime.

But no. Lets set up an operation to catch men trying get some action instead.

The vast majority of prostitution is pimp-controlled, meaning the women/girls do not actually get the money. Most of the time, if you're having sex with a prostitute, it is rape. Supply and demand. Without the demand for sex, there is no prostitution, no rape, no trafficking, etc. Prostitution, rape, and violent crime go hand in hand. Props to the Phoenix police department for being smart enough to realize this.

In a perfect world we'd have shiny prostitutes on every corner like Starbucks, but no one here knows of any little girl that says when she grows up she wants to be a prostitute.

That's because prostitution has a poor brand image. Right now it's being presented as meth and AIDS and being pimped, which makes for a terrible campaign. Prostitution's ad agency should be pushing an image of making good money for having sex and only working a couple of hours a day. You sell that story and women will be flocking to the profession.

They clearly aren't doing enough market research in that industry.

We do not tell them that part of marriage is letting unwashed construction workers take out the aggression they feel for their bratty ass kids and unappreciative woman by jack hammering their assholes.

I think that's just improper market segmentation, or at a minimum improper pricing strategy.

If the market says that being jack hammered is unpleasant for the service provider, then she should raise her price or get out of that market segment. If enough women get out of that segment, then the price goes up until the remaining providers are quite happy to get the jack hammering business because they either enjoy it or they're getting paid enough to make it worthwhile. And then the price goes down for freshly showered men who merely want to be loved for a short time, because you have more supply.

I'm telling you, they need to appoint me to run that whole prostitution show for a while. I could whip that market into place pretty quickly.

legalize pot - tax the crap out of it, eliminate the drug cartels/gangs

legalize prostitution and get rid of the pimps, safer and the money goes to the girls

legalization would be make both situations better for all concerned

I picked a profession where men work for a living so that the example would be even more putrid.

At least most of the men work for a living. Some of the men are such little pussies they complain on a message board over the mere suggestion that one of their masses wouldn't bathe.

I picked a profession where men work for a living so that the example would be even more putrid.

At least most of the men work for a living. Some of the men are such little pussies they complain on a message board over the mere suggestion that one of their masses wouldn't bathe.

Awww I missed this post.

Now we have a culture dependent on women trying to be the girl that will use her body in the most creative way to earn the most money/glory/prestige. Again.

Warren Sapp, who was arrested multiple times for domestic battery charges finally pulled from NFL Network with his latest arrest for prostitution. It could not happen to a worse loudmouth.

Going back to his old habits?
Cops say two women told police they were at the hotel "as escorts" and went to Sapp's room, where an argument broke out over money.

The women claim the argument turned physical and spilled out into the hallway.

Cops say the women had injuries consistent with a struggle.

PHOENIX – In the early morning hours before NFL Hall of Famer Warren Sapp's arrest on assault and solicitation of prostitution charges, hotel guests at the Phoenix downtown Renaissance awoke to what they believed to be an argument and physical altercation in a hotel hallway, Yahoo Sports has learned.

The Phoenix police department and an employee at the Renaissance declined comment Monday, but a source with details of Sapp's arrest told Yahoo Sports that sometime around 2:30 a.m. MT, guests reported hearing an argument followed by objects banging in either the hallway or another room. When guests opened doors to see the disturbance, at least one reported seeing two women – one lying on the floor with apparent marks associated with a physical altercation, and a second woman who was with her, the source said. The women were shouting and alleged that Sapp had assaulted them and asked for someone to call police, the source said.

Officers arrived shortly after the incident and interviewed the woman who had alleged the assault. Officers then began to look for the second woman, who had left the scene. Both eventually identified themselves to police as escorts who had met Sapp in the hotel. The source said Sapp was interviewed by police, then remained in his room until the second woman could be located. It was after the second woman was found and interviewed that Sapp was taken into custody and subsequently charged with soliciting prostitution and assault around 7 a.m. local time.

National Day of Johns Arrests is a bit of a misnomer. Rather than limiting their activities to a 24-hour period, law enforcers set aside the period between January 15 to February 1 to target johns -- clients of prostitutes. A total of 37 agencies reportedly participated nationwide, including the Denver Police Department. The result was scores of arrests and, presumably, a lot of imagined coitus interruptus. If the argument against the war on drugs is to legalize and regulate, does the same thing apply to prostitution? It seems like they're more or less identical situations.

That's a good question, but I think the answer is no. It's legal in Amsterdam and they still have a huge problem with trafficking, violent crime, rape, etc. I think what Phoenix did during the Super Bowl (punishing the buyer, thus decreasing the demand, thus decreasing the supply) is actually ideal. That's what they did in Sweden, and they have virtually eliminated prostitution and human sex trafficking from their country.

Hundreds Of Johns Arrested In Sex-Trafficking Sting That Culminated On Super Bowl Sunday

As the New England Patriots were celebrating their thrilling Super Bowl XLIX win Sunday night, law enforcement around the nation were observing a more somber victory.

At least 570 would-be sex buyers (or johns) and 23 so-called sex traffickers -- men taken into custody on charges of pimping, trafficking or promoting prostitution -- were taken off the streets in the "National Day Of Johns Arrests" effort, Illinois' Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart announced Monday.

The nationwide sex-trafficking sting operation, led by the Cook County Sheriff's Department, ran from Jan. 15 to Feb. 1.

“Sex trafficking continues to destroy countless lives, and this broad national movement should send a strong message to prospective johns that their ‘hobby’ is much more than a ‘victimless’ crime,” Dart said in a statement. “It‟s particularly meaningful that this sting culminated on the day of the Super Bowl, which unfortunately has emerged as a prominent haven for sex trafficking."

Experts like Bradley Myles, CEO of the anti-trafficking organization Polaris Project, have noted "there isn't much evidence linking the Super Bowl to a major rise in trafficking," while others point out that sex trafficking is a problem that persists not only during the Super Bowl, but year-round in communities of all sizes.

"We're trying to raise awareness best we can," Cook County Sheriff spokesman Ben Breit told The Huffington Post, explaining that the timing of the sting is largely symbolic. "Tying it to the Super Bowl is a helpful way to accomplish that."

Dart's office started the first such operation in 2011. The 2015 installment is the largest yet, comprising roughly 70 jurisdictions in 17 states, including Nevada, Arizona and Massachusetts.

On Monday, the Cook County Sheriff's office said 54 women and 14 juveniles nationwide were "rescued" (taken into custody but connected with mental health, drug abuse, domestic abuse and other services).

Other highlights of the operation included Phoenix police recovering several women who said they had been trafficked in for the Super Bowl. Cincinnati police also arrested a pair of sex traffickers who had been using public computers at a local library to post prostitution ads online, according to a release. Las Vegas Police, meanwhile, took a man into custody who was facing federal human trafficking charges in Ohio; they also arrested a john on probation for rape.

The majority of the busts were made through "dates" arranged on the classified ad site, Backpage.com (and to a lesser extent, Craigslist). Dart said Backpage.com has for years been known as the leading online marketplace for prostitution, bringing in millions of dollars a month. Backpage's exact revenue is unknown, but in 2013, classifieds analyst company AIM Group estimated Backpage's take was $4.2 million in a single month.

Backpage.com general counsel Liz McDougall told The Huffington Post via email:

We stand firm in our belief that a domestic website that combats child sex trafficking domestically in collaboration with law enforcement is far more beneficial to victims than driving the problem to underground and offshore sites. And we remain committed to effective measures of prevention and successful prosecution of this heinous crime.
Dart acknowledges his anti-trafficking and prostitution efforts have their critics -- primarily people who think law enforcement are merely criminalizing a transaction that should have long ago been legalized. But whether the crime is called sex trafficking, pimping or prostitution, Dart says he sees "no distinction."

"That's always been a tough one for me," Dart told The Huffington Post. "How is it any different when a man who gives a woman food or shelter, or coerces her with drugs or abuse, than when someone is brought in from outside the country.'"

And while Dart concedes there are some women who engage in sex work of their own choosing and without the involvement of a pimp, he says such instances are rare -- and still unsafe.

He says the next step is to continue expanding the operation to include more law enforcement agencies in more states.

"Its all about building awareness, about staying on the problem," Dart said. "There's no silver bullet for this."

Almost every bit of your argument is predicated on and rooted in prostitution being illegal. From lack of medical oversight to pimps, all of it created because somebody thinks it's immoral.

And even if it became legal, you'd still have it being organized by people who create the union. So like a mall that gives a store an opportunity to setup shop, are they are a store-pimp because they take a cut? One is very illegal and one is very legal, but to say it's not the same thing is a stretch. I wonder how many women at the bunny ranch were dragged in by their hair? I wonder how many curl-up in the corner shooting heroin? None. I think some may regret their choice later, but prostitution and porn aren't the only careers that leave a person wishing they had made other choices in life. Will there always be some violators? Yup.. Just like in this day and age of Ticketmaster you have scalpers selling tickets right outside the venue!

IMO all you can hope for relative to this oldest of trades is to control any violence and disease that can come from it. But given the carnal nature of human beings you aren't going to stop it, that's for sure. Look no further than prohibition to discover what will happen when you tell people they can't take a drink - the same goes for getting laid. It's not far off and you know it.

But know this, most of those tragic stories that you just referenced were enabled by there being a demand and it being illegal.

B) The bunny ranch is obviously a microscopically small percentage of the women involved in the sex industry. But still, how do you know if any of them were forced into it and/or addicted to drugs? I don't think it's safe to assume that they are not.

Valid points to say the least. I just think it's time to quit thinking you can legislate it away, or make it go away with moral indignation.

While we can all wonder why Sapp can't get laid otherwise, tomorrow we'll be in awe of another gold digger who was nothing and dumps her spouse. Or better yet we'll wonder why Kobe had to rape a woman when he could have a boatload of hot chicks willingly.

And not every guy is Kobe, an NFL player, Clark Hunt, or David, so to think there's not demand for it is just crazy.

So morality aside, knowing we're human means men are going to get Willy wet, and it's not for procreation or love, but just for fun, the world needs to wake up and plan for it.
