The Dachshund used to have functional legs and necks that made sense for their size. That is why most real working dogs: the cattle dogs, sheep dogs, and sled dogs all pretty much look similar with really only coat and color being different and a variation in size.

The modern show dogs are all highly inbreed and not as healthy. Compare an English Bulldog to an American Bulldog. They come from the same root stock but the American is much healthier due to being breed for work rather than look.

The bulldog and dachshund entries are true. My Mom was into dog shows when I was a kid and teen. Though the breed she showed and bred wasn't nearly as bad as some due to the breed almost dying out in the 1900s to the point they had to mix in some terrier to keep from massive inbreeding.

Even with this quite recent influx of new genes, the breed was still susceptible to genetic conditions like seizures and bad teeth.

There is more than one breed of German Shepherd. There is a show breed and a work breed.

Get the work breed. They don't have the bad hips or overly arched back or generally any of the maladies associated with German shepherd. You can't find one with a proper show 'saddle' on their back, but they're beautiful. Also, they're bigger. My old man has one and it's head is like a bowling ball.

If anyone is around when it's time for him to do his business he will go behind a tree or bush or anything thats in the area and peeking around it at you when he's dropping a log. The funniest thing I've seen him do is finding a patch of grass and weeds thats a little taller than him. He'll back up into it just so his head is sticking out and take a dump while watching to see if anyone is coming too close. It's fucking hilarious. The second he's done he'll take off running full blast with this big ole grin on his face like "HELL YEA" that was great.ROFL

I got my Boxer in 1991 and he survived till 2004. He was the most beautiful dog. People would stop me on the street to ask what kind of dog he was. He also was very BULL HEADED! He destroyed a 6 month old couch and a door. He chewed my wallet numerous times and would shit from one end of the house to the other. Bit two people. The biting was not his fault the people were messing around with him. I loved that dog but would never get another one. I now have a small breed mutt. Complete opposite dog.

They're not bulldogs. Assholes like that have selectively bred dogs that don't fit the breed standard. They've bred them like that because they think that's what they're supposed to look like. They're breeding health problems into the breed. Those XXXL bullies, Razor's Edge, etc all are creating problems by breeding malformed dogs like that (hip and shoulder dysplasia) they also are starting to have issues cooling themselves (like English bulldogs).

Those fuckers need to have their nuts taken off.

We have two. My female just turned one, male is 10.5 months.

Just saw a new born female we are thinking about getting, just born Monday. We were wanting one colored like her and she was born on my daughters birthday. Seems like a fit.
