I go maybe 10 times during the spring to get a base so I dont fry in the summer. Been doing this for 10 years and haven't had a bad sunburn since. About the only "metro" thing I do.

I go all the time. Tanning does not cause skin cancer. Getting fried all the time increases that risk.

I do - I try to stay dark enough in the summer - and just a tad in the months like now - I haven't gone for about 2 months now - I'll join again w/in 3 weeks or so. Esp. since you train Pen. Absolutely - why not? - it even makes you look bigger for some reason, as you probably already know - I can get really dark from the European on my mom's side.

I prefer a little color - so I say yes. And girls like it, don't think they don't - just don't get orange or get obsessed with it and you'll be fine.

Yeah, that's bullshit.

When you are in any type of ultraviolet light your thymine bases are damaged, forming dimers. This is so common that DNA has a specific proofreading mechanism that is designed solely to find these point mutations. It will fix the vast, vast majority of them, but the more exposure you have the more likely several are to slip by the goalie in a manner that can lead to an oncogenic mutation.

You can find links between just about everything and causing cancer. I bet there is absolutely no way at all it can be genetics that are more to blame than anything else.

It is a good thing that UV is not responsible for creation of any crucial vitamins the body needs to be healthy.

Just because something is harmless or even beneficial in smaller amounts doesn't mean that larger amounts it can't be harmful or even lethal.

had that shit cut off my shoulders, back, chest, legs and all around my belly button.

also cut a chunk of melanoma the size of the palm of your hand off my back. took out all the lymph nodes out from under my right arm.

have to go to the onocologist(sp? wgaf!) every 3 months for checkups.

I use sunscreen every damn day on my face, and when I'm outside I smear it all over. don't give a damn what I look like.

never used a tanning bed. never really went w/o a shirt too much. shit's nasty.

I'm pasty white and live in Florida. I would never go into a tanning bed. Did in Boston a few times. I get a little sun outdoors in the spring/summer from walks and being around my pool, because getting some Vit D is good for ya'. But I no longer fry like I did when younger.

I would rather get a spray tan than use a tanning bed.

That has been a varying cultural construct. A few centuries ago a tan was unattractive because it was a sign that you had to work outside and thus, were poor.

It only became a desirable trait in the 20th century.

Just an update for the OP. I think this weekend might cause a Vitamin D overload. Any idea if that's possible? Outside 4 hours yesterday with no clouds. Today 2 hours already and it's only noon. I'll probably spend a few more hours outside this afternoon getting my lime/orange tree fertilized. And fertilize the tomatoes which look like will produce a nice batch in about 2 weeks.

After all that I might just sit outside in the sun some more, drink and read by the pool. Supposed to be 80 here so I'll probably go topless, hell maybe nude. No two story homes by us so I can skinny dip all year and get my tan on.

And it's only February.
