The NFL has sent a letter to every team bitching about violations of it's stupid ass rules during the legal tampering period.

Here's an article about how stupid these rules are:

Don't tamper

But deflating balls to gain a competitive advantage is ok

So, for the record, according to the NFL, every team/player/agent that has reported an agreement between a player and a team that he is not currently with, has violated league rules.

TamperGate!

Might want to wait until the actual report comes out before leaping to assumptions.

When they stop John Elway from cheating, then I'll know they're serious. Until then, it's the WWNFL.

I hope they punish the 49ers for selling us Alex Smith before the new league season started!

Wouldn't be surprised if the Patriots initiated this... they are watching other teams in their division load up on reported high profile acquisitions.

If this was reverse, and all of these moves were being made by the Patriots, it would be business as usual in the NFL's eyes.

That makes no sense. The NFL KNOWS these deals are being discussed. Why does it take a complaint from the Patriots for them to act on it?

Patriot-hating requires no logic, or brainpower at all.

Albert Breer posted the NFL's email:

Here's the full NFL email from this AM: Clubs were advised of the rules for the three-day negotiating period in PP-23-15 (attached). These rules include limitations such as that a club cannot make an “offer;” or enter into a written or oral agreement of any kind, express or implied, or make promises or representations of any type concerning the terms or conditions of employment to be offered to any Unrestricted Free Agent for inclusion in a Player Contract after the start of the new League Year; or provide assurances of intent as to the future execution of an NFL Player Contract. Clubs were further advised that “Any attempt to undermine the purpose of this negotiating period may be considered conduct detrimental to the League.” At this time, the League office is beginning investigations into a number of reported agreements with clubs. Violations will be dealt with accordingly.

ROFL NFL is just dumb. Who cares? What ya think happens at the combine when you have agents of players there? Teams want the edge on other teams.

I'm sure that it doesn't -- not that that applies to me, who can tell you all about some 1-15 and 2-14 years, the Patriots being owned by the Sullivans, whose son got involved in a fight with Millen when he played for the Raiders, and Victor Kiam, who embarassed the Patriots in the whole Lisa Olsen situation, etc. ad infinitum.

Nice try, but complete miss.

NFL is mad because they want to manipulate FA media coverage and it backfired. They allowed this "legal" tampering so teams could line up all these big splash signings then the NFL gets a media "event" out of day 1 free agency frenzy. Now the reporting is trickling out I've a week instead if coming in the avalanche of coverage the NFL wanted.

Everything they do is a calculated move to make the NFL an event. In this case, it didn't play out the way they wanted do they bitch about it.
