View Full Version : Comparison Draft Idea

Anyone up for a little comparison drafting off the same draft board?
Fanspeak.com has about 7 or 8 draft boards up, will let you do a complete 7-round draft WITH the compensatory selections and traded picks up there. If we all used the same board, it would give us a good common base (even if we still dispute a player's availability) to go from.
If you're up for it, then let's decide which board to use...
Optimum Scouting, Matt Miller, Draft TV, Mocking the Draft. Which one would you prefer?

Fanspeak has Kevin White at #8. Drafttek has White at #14.

Which board overall do you think is the best of the ones they have? I'd just like to see us pick one (flawed though it may be) so we have the same basis for picks.

Ehh....it's really the flip of a coin. I guess you could go with Fanspeak's board.

All of those boards are a joke, which is what makes fanspeak a joke. I wouldn't use a single one. I might consider, and that is a big maybe, New Era's (Matt Miller). The rest you could flush down the toilet.

Ok, here's my best shot:
1.18: Devante Parker, WR, Louisville (Yep, he was up there.)
2.17: Maxx Williams, TE, Minnesota
3.16: Ereck Flowers, OT, Miami (FL)
3.34: Senquez Golson, CB, Mississippi
4.19: Sammie Coates, WR, Auburn
5.36: Shaquille Mason, C/G, Georgia Tech
5.37: Chris Hackett, S, Texas Christian
6.17: Trey Williams, RB, Texas A&M

Stay realistic, if you can. I'm thinking its increasingly likely that Parker makes it to our pick, though.

I just followed who was available on the board we were using, realizing that it's nearly impossible to know for sure how realistic it really is. I thought it was cool to have all of us use the same board of available players to see who we'd choose.

Odd that Marcus Peters usually falls to our pick.....especially considering he's rated #6 overall.

Matt Miller's board, keeping it realistic:
1. Erving
2. Devin Smith
3. Lockett
3. CB D'Joun Smith, Florida Atlantic
4. OT Donovan Smith, Penn State
5. TE Jesse James, Penn State
5. DE/OLB Zach Wagenmenn, Montana

I think it's 90% likely he's there when we pick.
Are the character concerns enough for Dorsey/Reid. That's the question.
They'd be enough for me, but that's just me.

Peters and DGB are impossible to gauge where they are going in the draft. They will both probably be there for our first, and possibly even our second. More so DGB
I love Peters though. My favorite corner in the draft.. If only he weren't such a diva. I think he is worth the risk in the first though

I think Peters is going in the first. He needs a good team with a (very) strong locker room.

Peters could be a legit elite top 5 CB in the league. If he's therr, wou ld all depend on the off field
CaliforniaChief
03-25-2015, 07:33 PM
The two top corners (Waynes and Peters) couldn't be any different from each other.
I would take Waynes if they were both there, but if IF Peters can keep his act together, and I'd like our locker room as much as any to help him, he's a top 5 talent and could be the next Revis Island, IMO.
If you're drafting at #18 and he's still there, you've got to think long and hard about that one.

Reid seems like a coach who has confidence he can get the best out of a player with Peter's background. Players generally have nothing but really positive things to say about Reid. Nobody is mocking Peters to the Chiefs, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if we picked the guy. His reconciliation with the Washington coaching staff would seem to speak pretty well of him.

A guy who fights with coaches?
I'd have to think Dorsey passes. I might, too. I can't put up with that shit, but partially that's because I don't see him as the All Pro others see him as.

Deandre Smelter was the guy at WR for the Yellow Jackets this past year - until he blew his knee late in the season against Georgia.
One of the best receivers in the college football and because he doesn't play his last two games, he's almost a draft footnote.
Somebody is going to pick him up later in the draft and get an absolute steal. Guy is really, really good with a huge ceiling.
His running mate Waller is a bit bigger, but he's not the football player Smelter is. He is stiff catching the ball, runs bad routes, has stiff hips and doesn't have a very good feel for the ball when it's in the air.
He's fearless and tough. Should be considered a tight end project at the next level versus a WR.
