A turd that has never lost to us for whatever reason. Let's hope our improved offense can change that.

It looks like there will be a gail force wind blowing in from left today.

Would be a great day to have a lefty on the hill to face a lineup with lots of RH power (too bad for Danny!).

Days like this always give the Royals the edge, IMO. Let the speed/baserunning/defense/high contact rate play up. Those things are not hurt by a strong wind in.

Jose Abreu? Takes away almost everything that makes him dangerous...

With the way things have been going, watch the Royals score more runs against Danks in his start today than they have against him in all his other starts vs KC, combined.

(*OK, they're not going to score 30 runs today, but Danks has a career ERA under 2.50 vs KC over 100 IP. He has an ERA over 5.00 against every other team that has seen him for 100 innings or more)

They've talked during the broadcasts about how the Royals just have a confident feel and look to them, something they don't necessarily remember them having last year, particularly in the first part of the season. Today will be a great litmus as to if that is true.

Off to work. Enjoy the game, fellas. Let's curbstomp these shitheads.

It would be a huge kick in the White Sox balls to be 3 games back in the standings already...possibly to both the Royals and Tigers. Obviously there's a TON of baseball to be played, but they finished 17 games behind Detroit and 16 games behind us last year, so they already face an uphill battle.

If they start 0-3, they would have to play .567 ball the rest of the way to win 90 games (which is what Detroit won last season). Only 4 teams in baseball played .567 ball or better last year.

I'm worried.

If the White Sox get off to too bad a start after making all these offseason moves, they might finally can that dunce they've got setting their lineups.

He's pounded the strike zone pretty well and keeping the ball down.

Really has muscled up on a few of the fastballs for the strikeout. There's a weird camera angle, which makes it a little tougher than normal to get a perspective on how good the control is.

It's kind of why I made my Volquez bet with Hamas.

Do people understand how much pressure the Royals defense takes off of the pitching staff?

Guys like Volquez will understand they can make mistakes that Cain and Gordon (etc) will turn into outs that no one else can.

Our ballpark + defense is any pitcher's dream.

To follow up on Volquez -
I think his two seamer is REALLY moving today. He's surprised several guys with a called strike and also thrown several pitches that caught the outside corner but looked like a ball from the camera angle/seeing the ball hit the mitt.

I believe the big adjustment Ray Searage made with him last year was getting him to throw his two-seamer more.

Butler would have three GIDP's already.

Morales hits into a ton of them, too. Just as many as Billy, really, over the past several years... because he, like Butler, hits in the middle of the lineup, doesn't strike out much, and can't run.

Saul - I'll have to see Morales in person. He looks like he's in a little better shape than in the past 2-3 years, so he might have edged ahead of Butler a little bit. But he's a pretty uncoordinated guy all-around (more what I was referring to).
