View Full Version : Football Jay Feely: Tim Tebow 'single-worst QB I ever saw,' couldn't beat air

IDGAF if it's a Q the comedy value of the headline is worth it LMAO

With Tim Tebow (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1114680/tim-tebow) now at least temporarily ensconced in Philadelphia, everyone's kind of settling in to see how Chip Kelly and the Eagles (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/PHI/philadelphia-eagles) handle this and how Tebow deals with playing for a new team.

If he wants to make the team succeed, he better have become a better practice quarterback than he was with the Broncos (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/DEN/denver-broncos) or Jets (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/NYJ/new-york-jets). To wit: former Cardinals (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/ARI/arizona-cardinals) kicker Jay Feely (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/234829/jay-feely) told "Jim Rome on Showtime" during this Wednesday's episode (airs at 9 p.m. ET) Tebow is the "single-worst quarterback I ever saw."

"He's such a dichotomy for me. Because I really respect the person, the man, the things that he believes in and the things he does off the field," Feely said. "He was the single-worst quarterback I ever saw in my career in the NFL."

Feely then proceeds to tell a story about Tebow warming up and losing ... to air.

"I watched him one day ... I sat and watched him do routes on air with Ken Whisenhunt as we were playing the Broncos," Feely said. "And routes on air, there's no [defensive backs], you know exactly what he's going to run, there's no pass rush. He had like 13 incompletions on routes on air. Jim, you and I could go out and do routes on air and we would complete most of our passes."

Brutally hilarious. It fits with everything you hear about Tebow in practice too. Not that Tebow's game completion percentage is particularly stunning (47.9%, which actually is stunning but for the wrong reasons).
Feely's take on the signing is that Kelly really believes his system will overcome everything and manage to "utilize" Tebow.

"He thinks his system is better than everyone's and his system is gonna work and it doesn't matter if he gets rid of star players like DeSean Jackson (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/559554/desean-jackson) or LeSean McCoy (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1243187/lesean-mccoy)," Feely said. "He thinks he's smarter so he can take a guy everyone else has quit on ... and utilize him."
Time will tell but the odds are definitely against it happening

Did he ever see Tyler Palko?

That was obvious the day he declared for the NFL. Hilarious Josh McDaniels traded up into the first rd on this guy. Tebow can't throw a football. That's the honest to God truth.

For a guy like Kelly he could be a very dangerous redzone/short yardage/two point weapon and I'm glad he's getting one last shot.

He's decent enough at throwing it to be dangerous at that on trick plays, he can definitely just truck it in and he's also athletic enough to be a tight end type that catches a few touchdowns... for the right coach he can be an excellent weapon.

I kinda like Kelly and his hubris, said before that he's going to be the Spurrier that actually makes his hotshot college scheme work in the NFL and I stand behind it.

I think tebow a heck of a qb the problem is he need to depend on more then his feet to win games they say he improved his passing if that true then let see it.

Renowned beat the Chiefs throwing only 3 passes as I recall

He has also won a playoff game and holds the record for fastest end to a playoff game from scrimmage I believe

Flukes. The gimmick worked the first time, but then the Chiefs shut him out in Pile High and the Pats raped them in the playoffs.

he was the worst QB I've ever seen

I said after that playoff miracle (where he didn't do anything) that he'd be out of the league in 2 years

I was wrong. It was 1.

He won't make the opening game roster.

no, he threw like 11 passes and completed 2

the Chiefs actually were the end of Tebow

Romeo gave everyone the blueprint on how to stop a guy who couldn't throw the ball and then it was game over

We have established that as a fluke. Quit trying to make a way to subtlety suck the Pats off.

Tebow couldn't throw for shit ... until the final minutes with the game on the line. Then he miraculously would pull something out of his ass as often as not. Maybe God does want him to win.

the Broncos beat the Steelers ... Tim Tebow had very little to do with that

very little

that Broncos defense carried them all year

I went to the game he beat the Chiefs. Two of his passes I was at a bad angle to see him and I swear I thought he had punted. They were that ugly. Even the Denver guy next to me agreed.
