I am surprised how many BMW's made the list.

I think the Gremlin and Mustang II should both be top ten.

Pacers and Gremlins were bad ass drag cars in the 60/70s....

drop a big block in and slicks....

That article is too long. They had to resort to picking a lot of rather normal, mundane looking cars. They chose like 10 k-car based entries

The Pacer, Matador, and Gremlin...hmmm....wonder why AMC bit the dust.

On a side note one of those damn Gremlins with a factory V8 was the only car that every beat me in my 71' Maverick Grabber 302cu. Damn thing had a little better traction than my Grabber and would get 1 to 2 car lengths on me off the line. After that it was about even. Fast, fast fast, can't believe I'm still alive, fast.

That was something else I liked about the list, nothing I've ever bought, or liked was on the list. Some friends had those cars, so I've driven a few of those, but nothing I would have bought myself. And one of the cars my wife doesn't agree with me about it being is on the ugly list as well.

I think there is a strong case that Yugo probably deserved a spot on there.

I'd agree with the BMW's, which have never really held their styling well - with the notable exception of the 80's 6 series. 635csi is still an attractive car.

The 7 series and that incredibly dumb x6 that they have out now are pretty ugly freaking cars.

He's correct. Those BMW's have bad lines, especially as they taper into the rear quarter. I've always thought so and felt bad for people who bought them because they were BMW's versus having any aesthetical conceptualizations.

Yea, it was a K car as were several other models.
Reliability was ok....I guess....longevity is not a word associated with them. They were built too cheaply. A small percentage would'nt see much more than 100,000 miles and/or 8-10 years of use. The K car is responsible for making Lee Iacoca (sp?) a household name for several years. Or was it the other way around ? As was Ricardo Montalbon for "Fine Corinthian Leather" of which there is no such thing.....they just liked the way he said it. lol

"Modern cars - they all look like electric shavers." — Marv

Totally agree with you and Marv. I have had a lot of cars that were different. A couple of 70's Fiat Spiders, a 64 Austin Healy 3000 Mk3, a 78 Silver Anniversary Corvette, a Baha Bug, and others.

I love the look of my Juke. Love the AWD, the little 4-cylinder turbo. I keep the back seats folded down and have a 2 seater with plenty of cargo space to put a couple of dogs back there. It's been a great little car for me.

I don't have all the spoiler stuff going on like the Juke R pictured earlier. More like this.

Yeah, the Jukes are cool cars. Not ugly at all.

To me, the least desirable cars are the most generic cars. If you want to call a unique-looking car ugly, that's your right, but I'd rather have something that stands out than something that's blah.

Toyota went through a spell in the 80s where they had cool-looking mid-priced cars, but their mid-priced cars for the past 15 years are painfully boring. I can't tell you the last time I noticed a Toyota on the road. (No offense, Toyota owners.) Honda was pretty much the same way for a long time, but they've at least got that Accord-like crossover now that's pretty cool.

He didn't have it very long so we didn't have it long enough to have problems with it. My grandparents had one of the first 4 door Citations. That thing was a piece of crap.

Gramps had the same thing, only at the other end of the spectrum. For his last 'go to work' car, he bought a base model 1980 Citation notchback with no options. AM radio, no air conditioning, manual windows, Iron Duke 4Cyl, manual trans.

Still trying to figure out why the BMWs were on this list.

You ever see one of those 7 series that he specifically points out going down the road?

It's an ugly car.

There is no harmony in the line, particularly on the rear end, where the deck and brake light make a hard, high line that takes away from the visual aesthetic.

Like a lot of BMW's, in about 5 years, it's going to look extremely dated.

Maybe one door opened, Windows wouldn't roll down, missing handles... cars like that is why I refuse to really take gm seriously. Any company that could pass that off to customers doesn't deserve them. Seeing the ignition switch issue currently, not only confirms my belief, but will probably keep me out of their showrooms for the rest of my life.

There are at least 10 cars on there that shouldn't be...my car has the best nose-panel/fender flare ever designed. Timeless..I might be biased..

I've always hated that ****ing car...it's so stupid looking it actually evokes rage. Late 70's into mid-eighties were an awful time for American design...it's almost like a deliberate attempt at failure. German's won the 80's..especially Porsche. I have a theory that America died with the muscle cars...they were the last symbol of what we all thought America was.

I also always felt the maverick was ugly as sin. Looked like Ford mated a mustang and a camaro, but chose the worst parts to put together.

Alright buddy, that makes two today. I'll see you out by the tether ball pole after school.
The first car I ever bought was a 71' Maverick Grabber. Just like this one only dark green with silver stripes.
And it was scary fast. HO 302cu and it weighed next to nothing. Although.....the 4 doors were ugly as puke.

How is the poniac Aztec not on this list?

first car I thought of.

But what about the Toyota Previa van and the olds silhouette van with the pointed front. It looks like a door wedge.

I also think the Scion Cube and that toy Smart Car should both be on the list.
The Cube is a Nissan. You may be thinking of the Scion xB (we made the x lower-case because it's kewl) which is dumb looking, but the newer models are slightly less dumb than the original one.

I bought one once for 20 bucks. It had nice plaid interior, it was yellow and poop brown painted and had a fucking v8. We drove the absolute piss out of that thing.

We would go to the top of 14th st hill and turn right. You could jump cars at a spot there and just catch hellacious air.

We hit a fire hydrant full bore once and the movies are wrong, those things are fucking SOLID.

Vega and pinto were ugly.

Pintos are ugly but I always liked the looks of the Vega fastback. It looked kinda like a mini '70-72 Camaro. The notchback and wagon Vegas were ugly though.

They were shitty cars though.

Dad actually bought Mom a Ford Anglia he called it the Damn English Ford. He got it as a grocery getter and it was the biggest piece of crap ever. He sold that thing in less than a year to some poor sap.

My folks had an Anglia when they were first married. I have a picture of my mom when she was pregnant with me standing next to it.

So you admit it was ugly? :)

I had to drive a friends parents one once, I hated the car before that. Driving the thing didn't improve my feelings on it. Though it was obviously a beater by that point, 1990-1.

Mine was a pussy gettin motherfucker. A friends parents had a 4 door with the checkered/plaid seats and it was just dog butt ugly. If you drove one in 1990 it was probably one of the last 10 still running in this country.:D

That list sucks. There's a lot of good looking cars in there. I figured the Pontiac Aztec would be in the top 10, it was #5.

That was my #1 and the first car I thought of.

10% of those cars shouldn't be on the list.

Anybody who thinks that car is ugly should be slapped.

I had the sweetest, maroon 72 Custom/10 Chevy you'll ever see, and some dumb bitch pulled out in front of me and destroyed it.
Man, I miss that truck.

Heh. My first car was a '74 Maverick Grabber.

Guy at our church drove a baby blue one. Ugliest car I remember from growing up.

Poor guy, he was a Gil Gunderson type who got a job making the donuts in town. Was a single father with one of the hottest teen daughters in town.

Picture if Steve Buscemi showed up at your church in a 70s Javelin, dragging along Kaley Cuoco as his teen daughter.
