Who's left at those spots?

RAMIK WILSON for ILB IMO

STRENGTHS Three-year starter. Productive and shows downhill traits to make impact tackles. Linear build with limbs to push his way around second-level linemen. Mirrors play and slides laterally with ease. Finished 2014 with the SEC's highest tackle-quality grade amongst starting linebackers. Has the potential to play SAM or WILL linebacker spots in a 4-3. Can get sideline to sideline and isn't easily taken off his feet.

I really like him.

Good hands, tough runner, 225-230 but it's muscle and not fat, and he's got good change of direction/moves for a guy that weight.

More physical than any of our current HB's and can still stay on the field on 3rd downs...

He's a Mauga clone with less explosion and instincts. We need a thumper, not a drag tackler who doesn't even make up for it in coverage.

Good depth. That's it.

There isn't a team in the NFL that isn't screwed when their starting QB goes down. That's not a position any team gets to have more than 1 good/great player.

Your exception would be when you've got a guy like Tebow starting and Sanchize backing him up. You're screwed at kickoff every week.

I know that. That's why I was a huge Kendricks fan. But you're not finding a good pass and run defending ILB this late in the draft. Most of these guys aren't even good enough to support DJ in the run let alone cover a zone.

If somehow T.J. Clemmings fell to us in the 4th, I would be ecstatic.

Looking at numbers, I don't think we need another WR, and maybe the staff likes Harris enough that TE isn't a pressing need. If Jaye Howard gives us good snaps from the NT position next year, that would help immensely.

At this point in the draft, Clemmings would be insane value, which is why it is unlikely he drops to us. But, if I had to pick a player available that I want.. probably him. I would like to see us get another body to compete in there and Clemmings could man the RT position for a long time. Fix the O-Line in one draft.. let's hope.

ILB is definitely a position to look at also.

Jay Ajayi - We would be set at RB for a while and would have insurance over the next couple of seasons in case Charles is injured or finally starts to decline with age.

T.J. Clemmings - With him still being raw and having injury concerns I would consider him a redshirt candidate and a pick with the future in mind.

Justin Hardy - Another WR would be nice and the Chiefs at one point in the process were showing a lot of interest in him. (honorable mentions at WR: Tre McBride, Stefon Diggs)

Jake Ryan, ILB - Obviously a need pick. Ramik Wilson worth a mention too.

Oh yeah, I forgot the TE from Illinois State, O'Shaughnessy. Intriguing prospect.

CaliforniaChief
05-02-2015, 07:45 AM
James O'Shaughnessy Analysis from NFL.com:

STRENGTHS Athletic with ability to stress the seam and challenge vertically. Uses acceleration out of cuts and clever hand usage to create quick throwing windows. Hands-catcher who plucks it away from his body. Outstanding focus with ability to finish contested catches. Foot quickness to get into routes in a hurry and shake defenders after the catch. Will work himself open if covered. Gets feet into proper position as a blocker and gives honest effort.

WEAKNESSES Shows some hip tightness when opening up and running downfield. Upright into his routes. Doesn't always find the best spots in the zone. Will allow zone windows to close on quarterback rather than working his way to safer positioning. Thin lower body. Will need to hit weights if he wants to be able to play in*line on a consistent basis.

DRAFT PROJECTION Round 4 or 5

SOURCES TELL US "Good player. I love his play speed and the way he competes hard on every throw his way." *-- Former NFL TE and current coach

BOTTOM LINE "Basketball" tight end with plus foot quickness, concentration, hands and vertical ability. He can elevate and compete for jump balls while creating space for himself with his quickness. His blocking is a work in progress, but he could end up being a highly productive Day 3 draft pick if a team utilizes his talent properly.

Jesse James, TE - Penn State (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1983808/jesse-james)

STRENGTHS: Underutilized with a diverse skill set to help any NFL team. Good enough speed to present a threat down the seam. Makes the tough catch in traffic without fear. Keeps his feet chopping on contact as a blocker and understands angles and cutback lanes well enough to move and be a second tight end or H-back. Flashes soft hands. Similar in build and skill set to Bills tight end Scott Chandler.

WEAKNESSES: Too often fights the ball. Lacks the burst to be a threat after the catch. Below-average production in college and was invisible in the passing game too often. Limited ability to separate. Post-up receiver whose greatest edge is his height, reach. No wiggle with the ball. Unspectacular overall prospect.

Player Overview: An impactful player since his freshman season at Penn State, it was a surprise to scouts when James opted to enter the 2015 draft. He had 78 career receptions, 1,005 yards and 11 touchdowns in three seasons.

James is a well-rounded tight end who became a security blanket for the quarterback with his versatility as a slot receiver and inline tight end. He can effectively play on all three downs with many attributes that will be coveted by NFL evaluators. With his size and firm grasp of blocking principles, James has just one major lingering question - consistency.
