Julius Thomas wasn't good last year. Owen Daniels has actually been a good TE his whole career. Julius Thomas hasn't proved he's not just another manning product, especially when his production dropped off the cliff last year.

Owen Daniels is almost 33 years old.

If the Chiefs need to fear a slow and old tight end, they're done before this season even starts.

The only "slow and old" tight end they should fear is Gates.

Daniels had a nice career with Houston, now he's in the start of his final tour across the league by having 1 year stints with contenders that have TE issues.

Eventually, he'll get to the point where he's cut by the Jags in TC after milking the final few dollars he possibly could out of the National Football League.

Never said they should fear him. I don't think they should have feared Julius Thomas either to be honest. So to me it's a wash. Julius Thomas was talented, but I still think he was a Manning product. It's not like they had Kelce or someone like that.

It's not but I take it with a grain of salt. Give Manning a tall target in the red zone and that guy will have a lot of touchdowns.

He's just not anything special to me. He's more of a TE2 to me than a TE1. He's not Gronk. He's not Kelce. He's not Gates. He's not Graham etc. I'll bet anything that he won't come close to 800 yards 12 TDs again ever. Doubt he'll ever produce for the Jags like Marcedes Lewis did at that position.

Maybe. JT was leading the league until he got hurt (and PM got broke) though and his talent when healthy was obvious.

He is talented, but he doesn't scare me. And wasn't there an issue about him not loving football and his teammates being angry at him because he wasn't willing to play when he was at 80-90% even when there were other players much worse off than him playing?

I don't mean to sound like he's a terrible player, but I just don't think the Broncos will lose THAT much going from him to Owen Daniels. It's all about Manning. If he's healthy, then you can basically send anyone out and he'll make them look better than they actually are.

While I'd love to see Daniels squeeze out one more solid year staylor and Dane are correct. Huermann is who Denver hoped would step in and be the young stud blocking catching TE to replace JT. Daniels was an insurance policy on which they now hope to collect.

Denver is going to miss Julius Thomas more than people realize. Said it when it was announced JT was hitting the market. TEs with his skill set from a receiving standpoint don't grow on trees. Daniels might hit 600 yards and 4 maybe 5 TDs. Nothing spectacular. And this belief you can plug in anybody with Manning and they turn into a legit weapon is still silly.

I think Thomas is going to go to Jacksonville and resemble an average tight end with good speed. Just another victim of Peyton Manning. Blake Bortles may be decent someday, but not now.

Perhaps, but I don't think just any average Joe would put up those numbers with Manning. Manning can inflate a receivers stats but not by THAT much. I don't think Daniels replicates his performance.

Daniels averages 572 yards per season. Take out the year he only played 5 games and he averaged 600+ yards a season. If you don't think Manning can inflate those numbers, you're kidding yourself. Daniels could easily have 700+ yards and 8+ TDs with a healthy Manning.

There is zero chance that Peyton Manning switches over to Kubiak's offense. Peyton has played in the same offense since day 1 of his NFL life, and he ain't changing now. Kubiak is going to have to learn Peyton's system.
