I think it's a wise gamble. We have the pitching match-up as far as numbers are concerned, and the back end of our pen is at full strength.

What's the "technical analysis" sat about tonight's game?
I think it is neutral at this point. This is our first game of the year after being at +10, so it is unchartered territory. petemetrics say we're at +9 for the fourth time, so if we win it signals a possible win streak. If we lose, a losing streak is signaled.
So, you can see this is a pretty big game.

Probably not Monarchs retros.
There are teams that use old school versions of their own uniforms in their regular uniform rotation such as the White Sox, Padres, DBacks. I think the only way we could fit in any old uniforms on a regular basis would be if we introduced something like what we wore last year vs the Indians. But those are so close to our regular uniforms anyway it would be kind of pointless, those were beautiful though.

I'm probably in the minority, but I don't like it. Since there's 162 games, we can put up with the occasional old or zany uniform, but I'd prefer they stick with our official 4-5 uniforms.

But I like our traditional uniforms too much.

I don't think the Twins can sustain this - not with that pitching staff - but that offense is going to give opponents trouble all year. It's deep and annoying.

Side note:
This is why Chris Capuano is still in the league. Classic example of a guy who REALLY knows how to pitch.
You have to try to get to him the third time through the lineup... very deceptive and able to throw/set up any of his three pitches with his ability to pitch backwards or traditionally.
He's kind of a lefthanded version of Chris Young, at least in terms of results.

Obviously if you have been using the windup your whole career, its too late to change now, but some pitchers only pitch from the stretch and I think thats a better way to go. I wonder if there's any movement at all in high school and college to teach young pitchers to only pitch from the stretch and forget about ever using the windup, to keep things simple. I think the studies I've seen say that the windup doesn't actually do anything for you, its just tradition.

Well, it probably is now, but only because so many people have placed it on a pedestal to be bowed down to.
When they started figuring out the proper tweaks to WAR a couple years after it was introduced, it was a hugely helpful addition to the advanced stats, and its still very valuable as long as you understand its limitations.

I think the studies I've seen say that the windup doesn't actually do anything for you, its just tradition.
If one of my twins is a boy, I will teach him to pitch exclusively from the stretch. I'll be teaching drive-and-drop mechanics with a stepover (extra long front step), which works really well out of the stretch.
The windup only helps IF you are able to work in some deception out of it. Think Chris Sale or Alex Wood... but a lot of those deceptive windups also make you more susceptible to injury...
I took the extra long step and had a little bit of a wrist wrap, so I was pretty deceptive. But I also had a shoulder drag issue with my mechanics AND threw cross body, which is probably why my rotator cuff went.
Looking back at it now, I had all sorts of red flags for injury issues. Nice to know if I have a player, I can hopefully help him avoid those things.

Infante starting to hit like the player the Royals thought they were getting (And has been very good with RISP). If he gets hot and Rios comes back healthy and ready to go, all of a sudden you have Rios-Perez-Infante hitting 7-8-9.
That's deep and dangerous.

I had my reservations about Dyson starting every day. I know he can play some defense and has some speed, but I couldn't see any eye test to support that he would be able to hit decently.
He's basically Gore in some aspects.

I'm calling it now. I was wrong about Dyson wrt to starting everyday. He would have been badly exposed.
He's also lost a step of speed... not quite as quick-twitch as he once was.
I was willing to give it a shot if they found a good platoon partner for him, as a backup plan... but sure am glad they got Rios and had him off to a strong start.
Dyson is also completely helpless vs. LH pitching. Just doesn't pick up the ball. If he was in a true platoon plan, he'd probably be having a little bit better season.
