Hi All -

This is the first thread I've started like this so I hope I'm going about it the right way. My little brother (A US Army Veteran) has been given a great opportunity to run in the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon to support the families of fallen heroes. I thought this would be a good day to ask for any and all support.

In his words:

I am lucky to have been given the opportunity to join the 2015 Seal Legacy Foundation's (https://www.seallegacy.org/) Escape From Alcatraz (http://www.escapefromalcatraztriathlon.com/ESCAPE_From_Alcatraz_Triathlon.htm) Triathlon Team. As a former soldier myself I am humbled at the opportunity to represent America's most dedicated warrior's. While I was in Afghanistan one of my greatest fears was causing my family pain if I was unable to return. The Seal Legacy Foundation cannot replace a father, money cannot bring back a hero. I am just proud to be able to represent this group, as they take care of the families of these extraordinary men. These families really do deserve our support. I thank all my friends for joining me in telling these families how grateful we are, and letting them know they are not alone.

850 dollars has been pledged of a needed 3500. Every 5 dollars helps.

Thank you in advance and all my casino money and undying admiration goes to the highest donor. If you're in the KC area, I'll buy you a beer or 5 as well :)

ROFL it's not going to him. It's going to the Seal Foundation. :)

We could really use any more support that we can get.

It looks like we had an anonymous donor. Thank you whomever you are!

$3,500 seems like a ridiculous amount of money to pay to escape from prison. For an extra thousand will they shoot at you too?!

Because guilt-tripping people is a nice way to encourage sincere donations.

As a veteran I'm curious why it takes $3500 to run a race.

Hi All!

Thanks for the donations! James Pluid finished in about 4.5 hours today. It was a great showing and I couldn't be prouder. I really appreciate those that donated or simply sent well wishes.

I think I'll drink several beers now.

The interesting part was that his bike broke down on mile 12 of 18, causing him to lost about 45 minutes compared to other competitors. Sounds like a tough finish. :thumb:
