Plays the same for both teams, I guess. They just gear their roster to take advantage of it.

You're missing the point. It's not that the game doesn't matter.

It's that in a 162-game season, you're going to have a bad game/bad series/bad stretch at times.

The key is limiting how often/how bad they are. Can you keep a bad series from turning into a losing streak? Can you keep a bad game from ruining a series? Can you keep losing streaks to just a few games?

This is the first bad stretch of the season for the Royals, coming off an incredibly hot stretch. Even if they lose today, KC is still 9-6 in its last 15 games. They're still 10 games over .500 at just over 1/4 of the way through the season.

ChiTown
05-27-2015, 12:13 PM
and just like that, The Twins go up 3-2 over Boston.....

We will be out of 1st by the time we get back to KC. I have a feeling this little road trip is going to yield a 1 outta 6 for the R's.

Shit happens. Got to get it back on track and at least resemble a club that is competing while we are in Chicago. Right now, this is just a REALLY awful looking display of baseball - it's just strange seeing this team have so little going for it in the last 4 games. The D still looks okay, but that's about it.

Honestly, we need to be out of first so there is some pressure to make the starting rotation changes this team needs.

Ned wanting to move Young to the bullpen to protect him is absurd. You can't make decisions afraid of injuries. It's how the Nats broke Strasburg and ruined a WS chance a few years ago.

tk13
05-27-2015, 12:23 PM
I guess I just expect us to lose a few because we were on pace to win 108 games coming out of last weekend. That would be one of the best records in modern history. Just tough to do. This team could have a couple losing streaks and still win 90-100 games.

Plus right now our starting pitching is probably not good enough to win 108 games. I say this every year but I think starting pitching is the most important thing. It's why I didn't totally hate the Shields trade. You can't win unless you have a stopper or two at the front of the rotation. That's also how you avoid long losing streaks.

If being one game away from a WS title isn't enough motivation, I'm not sure dropping out of first in May will be.

Nope. It's isn't.

But the Royals are going to end today - at worst - tied for first place in their division. And that's with Greg Holland being injured and less effective than normal, Alex Rios playing only 8 games, and Danny Duffy and Yordano Ventura both vastly underachieving.

I think that's important perspective.

Still think 95 wins is going to take this division, and the Royals are in great shape to get there.

Now let's get Escy on and let Moustakas tie this one up.

I'm not getting paid millions of $'s to hit a ball....:thumb:

Yeah, and no one who is getting paid millions to hit a ball can hit the guy. What does that tell you?

If you think any of those pitches were home run pitches you are nuts. Dude is 6'8" and throws 100 mph, and follows that up with a high 80's slider that breaks a foot.

Homer's are what got the Royals swept right outta New York. One team knew how to hit 'em.. the other left their bats at home.

You once hit four homers in a single game, amirite?

In the last two seasons, Betances has pitched 116 IP, 55 H, 176 K, and a 1.08 ERA.

And they follow him up with mini-Randy Johnson. Good luck.

That is how the Yankees have scored their runs, and they are ready to sweep the Royals who looked "below average" on offense. We all knew this stretch was coming for the offense, but I was hoping it wouldn't happen while the starting pitching has been dog shit.

It was very clear the Royals just wanted this one over in the ninth. Well, take the series in Chicago.

They got the sweep, the season series and gave us a roomate if not two to share in first place....

5 runs in 4 games is all we could muster....

On to Chicago. Bleh, that was miserable. I hope they can flush this nasty turd that's been following us around the last 4 games. This little stretch has been unsightly.

Meh, good teams are going to have streaks like this. It's baseball.

We had 3 extreme flyball pitchers go consecutively in the smallest park in the majors. I'm not mad. Streaks like this are going to happen.

We managed to combine shit starting pitching and no offense in the last 4 games. That is just how it goes.
