The Chiefs signed former Kansas State offensive tackle Tavon Rooks on Monday, his agent, Richard Kopelman, told The Star.

With the addition of Rooks, who is listed at 6 feet 5 and 290 pounds, the Chiefs are one player over the 90-man offseason roster limit. They have not announced a corresponding move.

Rooks was a sixth-round pick of the Saints last season. He spent the entire 2014 campaign on the practice squad but was not re-signed following the season.

Rooks signed a reserve-futures contract with Arizona in January but was released on June 5.

Rooks was a two-year starter at Kansas State from 2012 to 2013. You can read his 2014 NFL.com draft profile here.

“Tavon is thrilled to have an opportunity to play for the Chiefs,” Kopelman said. “Having played football at K-State, he knows how passionate the fans are, and he's excited to get back there.”

More than 20% of the players on a NFL roster were UDFA's

Do you think he will make the team for regular season?

I have absolutely no idea but I do know that UDFA's make rosters every year and to automatically dismiss anyone as "fodder" is silly.

Technically, he's not a UDFA, he's a sixth rounder from last year. That's the same round Tom Brady was drafted, btw...
