He just came around to bat again in the same inning and torched an RBI double. He's got my vote. Neither TV crew has figured out where the HR landed. It's either up in the highest catwalk or he hit it over everything in the stadium and off the back wall of the dome.

The distance of the throw is negligible compared to the difficulty of fielding the ball, turning around, and making a throw 180 degrees in the opposite direction. You bunt towards first for a hit and towards third for a sacrifice with a runner on second.

This is pretty low level baseball strategy here. Wheeling and throwing is very difficult. A ball traveling an extra 20 feet takes about a tenth of a second.

Saul Good
06-16-2015, 06:55 PM
oh ffs..cherry pick much?

NL teams playing in AL parks have to insert a utility guy because they don't have a DH on the roster. That's a disadvantage. Their advantage is that they have an extra $10,000,000 or so to spread across their roster instead of paying a DH.

Coach
06-16-2015, 06:58 PM
This is pretty low level baseball strategy here. Wheeling and throwing is very difficult. A ball traveling an extra 20 feet takes about a tenth of a second.

The problem is, the 3rd baseman was already practically halfway through home by the time the ball was put on the ground to him. So was the first baseman, but he was shading towards the pitcher mound instead of at the 1st base line.

You bunt at the 1st baseman because 1st baseman has to account for the pitcher/middle area since the pitcher's motion is going away from the middle of the field between the mound and home plate.

That was a good point by Physioc. Gordon pushing it and going to third and Infante paying attention set up that opportunity. If they don't do that then it's the same situation as Young's last at bat and he has to bunt and we need a two out hit.

Coach

Nice game so far. The Infante we've seen tonight is the guy he has been most of his career... Above average glove, solid middle of the field approach at the plate.

Would be nice if he finally started hitting like the healthy player he was before coming to KC.

It was kind of a close up of about 10 people. A guy with short grey hair in a white sleeveless Royals jersey with a blue t-shirt under it was giving a Moose call so they were kind of zoomed in on him.

Gotta be painful for Brewers fans to watch the guys the Royals got from them for 1.5 seasons of Greinke being worlds better than what they got in return for Greinke.

How much better are the Brewers with Cain, Escobar, and Odorizzi?

Losing to the Cards sucked but they are a damn good team that you have to be on your game to beat at home. The Royals have their struggles but they are doing their job by beating a bad Brewer team while the other teams in the division struggle to stay consistent.

Current Odorizzi is a pretty legitimate No. 2 starter. Considering the team's weakness in the rotation, that would be a pretty nice piece to have. I'd probably make the trade.

Game note: Nice job by Herrera getting out of that. One hard hit ball, two very well-placed weak grounders. Such is baseball.

Speaks to how our expectations have changed considering we'll be 3.5 games up in the division after this one is over. We've mostly been pissed off as a fanbase over the last 3/4 weeks. It's a long season, just keep grinding and hope we're hot at the right time.
