10. Dan Marino
9. Steve Young
8. Bart Starr
7. Otto Graham
6. Ken Stabler
5. Johnny Unitas
4. Roger Staubach
3. Tom Brady
2. John Elway
1. Joe Montana

I just watched the show. I certainly can't argue with one and two. I think Brady is clutch, but I think number 3 belongs to Johnny Unitas. What do you think? Pretty close? Way off? No surprise to me that that choker Manning didn't make this list. Paging Hootie to tell us how invalid the list is without him. ROFL

If "clutch" means fluking things off at the best possible moment, shEli Manning needs to be at the top of the list.

Horse face lost 3 Super Bowls. Doesn't sound like #2 to me.
Besides, fuck him.

They said Marino would've been higher if he had even one ring

Oh I hear you. I hate Elway with a passion. But even through all the hate I can't deny his performance in the clutch. I witnessed it way too many times against the Chiefs.

No peyton manning or tony romo makes this list irrelevant/hootie

and brady having a record comeback in the Superbowl and another one vs the ravens last season would have me put the edge over unitas, imo

Does anyone need me to point out the glaring problem with this list?

As an aside, they had a list today of the "top big men" in NFL history, and ranked Jamarcus Russell 5th on the list. No Doug Atkins, no Les Bingaman, no Morris Stroud, and they included Jamarcus Russell. They're terrible at judging AFC West quarterbacks, apparently.

I found a list done by bleacher report. They have the same top 4. They also put Eli Manning in at 10 and Terry Bradshaw at 9. They dropped Bart Starr and Ken Stabler off the list. Marino climbed to 5, Graham to 6, and Unitas dropped to 7. Steve Young came in at 8.

It's really hard to build a list, because the truth is that most quarterbacks don't get that many chances. Even the longest-tenured quarterbacks may only get 100 chances, and few in nationally watched games. There are probably quarterbacks like Jeff Blake or Kerry Collins who are really the best, but no one really recognizes them.

I think the only thing I could say with confidence is that Joe Montana was a clutch quarterback, along with Staubach and Bradywithanasteriskduetocheating. And as much as I think he's overrated, Stabler probably goes on the list. But I'll bet the other six on the list are guys we don't think about because they didn't win Super Bowls.

Manning shoulda been on the list somewhere, IMHO. I know he's been choking lately but he did get a ring.

I don't know who would actually say this and mean it, except for Clay, who has the biggest PHO for Green.

While being clutch and having "Comeback ability" is certainly impressive.......

Ive often wondered if we fans tend to overrated this some.

For instance, I saw plenty of games where Elway and MOntana had bad 3 or average quarters, then light it up in the 4th.

What if they had just played more consistent the entire game? They wouldn't have needed an amazing comeback. Would we have them rated as high?

Isn't that what Alex Smith does, play consistent? Um, he sucks.
