I have googled it. And I see nothing. What I see is that you can call a guy up and down as much as you want within a season (a veteran, which Colon isn't) may have to give permission.

No, I don't trust you. No offense, but I don't "know" you well enough and your un-detailed response of "they can't" indicates someone who probably doesn't really know.

Rios sucks. Third base coach is in the same category. Why in the world would you NOT send Esky and force the Rays to make a play. Hells/bells, he'd have scored standing up. Ergo, my order of departure is:

(1) Rios
(2) Rios
(3) 3rd base coach

Neither are performing at a major league level.

A player must remain in the minors for 10 days before being recalled. The only exception is if the team places a player on the 25-man roster on the disabled list after the move.

2. A minor league player who was sent outright to the minors cannot be added back to his club's MLB 40-man roster until he has spent at least 10 days on outright assignment, unless the player is selected to be the "26th man" on a day where a doubleheader was scheduled at least 48 hours in advance, or is selected to replace a player on the 25-man roster who is placed on the Disabled List, Bereavement List, Paternity List, Restricted List, Military List, Disqualified List, or Ineligible List, or if the season (including post-season playoffs) of the minor league team to which the player is assigned is over, or if the player is traded.

http://www.thecubreporter.com/book/export/html/3506

HOWEVER, you might have a point, though. Since it appears Colon is still on the 40 man roster, so perhaps ChiefsCountry is confused. It appears to me, unless I'm misinterpreting, this only applies if the player who is demoted is demoted off of the 40 man roster.

Holding Escobar in the first inning was absolutely the right move.

Look, in hindsight he would have been safe. But Jirschele can't work in hindsight.

That ball was hard hit, right back up the middle. Escobar had to freeze for a second because of the shift the Rays had on at the time. Because of this, Escobar was just touching third base as Kiermeier fielded the baseball. Kiermeier has a really good throwing arm and has 7 OF assists. Guarantee you the scouting report on him is to NOT challenge his arm, and that's exactly what it should be.

Mike Jirschele gets a lot of undeserved hate from people that can't accept that the World Series would have ended with Alex Gordon in a run down if Jirschele had sent him.

god damn I swear you guys have the baseball IQ of someone who has never watched baseball

I agree that Gordon would've been out at home by 20 feet in the playoffs on an average throw.

With Escobar on second he should be scoring on the hit in the first inning. We used to put pressure on the opposing teams and it worked for us. Especially with this weak lineup that we trotted out today.

Kiermeier is like a Lorenzo Cain out there with a better throwing arm, to add to this ON POINT analysis (per usual).

I agree that Gordon would've been out at home by 20 feet in the playoffs on an average throw.

Manny Ramirez could have cut off the Giants cutoff man, threw it to the cutoff man he cut off, and the cutoff man that he cut off would have still gunned Gordon by 3 steps.

Everything about this is incorrect.

You do NOT need to be aggressive in the first inning when your first three hitters have gotten on, two of them drilling line drive hits.

You do NOT need to be aggressive in that situation. You follow the scouting report.
