Now that our pets are sadly no longer with us, we have talked about bombing the house. Most of our pests are silverfish and spiders. We do see an occasional roach but I think they are wood roaches. Anyhow, Wife wants to "bomb" the house.

I've seen some people say it works and some say don't do it for a number of reason,s health, ineffectiveness, etc.

anyone here every done it?

I've bought the small bug bombs and done my shed. Did it twice, one right after the other and it didn't seem to work. I've never done it professionally though.

I haven't done it personally, but I know the trick is to do the WHOLE house, including the attic and basement.

If you just do one area, you just end up pushing the bugs to the clean area.

Helped a buddy do it before he moved in. If you have your shit in it, I probably wouldn't.

I'd be rather concerned about my child and pets afterward. It would cause waaay more concern for me than a few spiders would.

I've been told that it kills most of them...then the ones it doesn't kill feast on the bodies and multiply like wild.

We bombed for fleas in a rental once but at this point the only thing I really give a crap about are brown recluses. Those are notoriously difficult to kill due to where they tend to set up shop (and the fact that they hardly ever come out). If you don't manage to kill all of them, they'll have themselves a nice little buffet.

So I mostly just let any common grass or wolf spider I see live because they'll hunt the recluses in my storage room down and take care of them for me. Au natural.

Our here, exterminators "tent" homes to kill the offending insect(s), mainly termites, which we had it done in 2010.

First, we had to seal up all food in special plastic bags and have them inspected by the exterminator before the process. We put our Labs in a doggy hotel for five days while we went to Palm Springs.

The exterminator then covers the entire home with a large canvas tent so that no one can get in or out. They then inject a poisonous gas into the home, which would be deadly to anyone, including humans, pets, rodents and of course, insects, for 48 hours.

No more termites.

WRONG

They use your house to cook meth and they case your house for future theft opportunities.

We did it in a former home for fleas, it was effective.

Nah, I think it was just the fact that you finally shaved your back.

I've bug bombed basements in our houses, and when there has been a spider issue or something I've done the upstairs before.

Nuke it with the bug bombs when you're gone, and then get a gallon of quality bug spray and go around the baseboards, door jams and drains.

I do this with my cabin, I've done it in rental houses, and in my homes.
You'll be amazed how many insects/spiders are hiding inside a brand new home due to it being open during the construction process.

Now, I typically just have an exterminator come around 1-2 times per year to make sure there aren't spiders.

spiders are hard to kill with sprays.

Make sure you turn off any ignition source (pilot lights, etc.)

No but I would consider it.

house centipedes and silverfish used to be a really big problem in my unfinished basement a couple years ago..even saw a few spiders that looked like tarantulas and a mice or 2.

once it got renovated and all the walls were patched up and fixed..the basement looked beautiful..over $60,000 invested into it..however I still see the occassional centipede and there quite large..some are medium. This summer hasn't been bad..but last year was and thats when it was brand new.

These are the worst bugs ever..they terrify me..I Truly have a phobia.. spiders don't even bother me anymore.

it just sucks that even after being renovated and always keeping it spot on clean..you still see these fuckers

Just make sure you have you have a lot of candles burning when you do it.
