Anyone else giving it a shot?

I just finished my first pint glass of the stuff after letting it sit in my fridge for a day.

It tastes... a lot like liquefied and chilled pancake batter. Texture (my biggest concern) wasn't bad at all.

My next move is to get a blender and some cocoa powder, supposedly the neckbeards at Reddit say this improves the taste immensely.

One serving has 84 carbs? Fuck that.

Oh and....

Update August 11 2014: We have been informed that Soylent recently put a hold on shipping after recipients complained about flatulence and headaches after consuming the product. They have recently begun shipping it again, along with advice for "optimizing the Soylent experience" which includes avoiding using it as your main source of food without giving your body time to "adjust."

That's at least one different iteration of the formula currently used. They've got down the fiber content by a sizable amount.

That is incorrect.

Soylent has become sentient and started to have sexual relations with people. So it's fricking people, guys.

The fiber content or the carb count? The fiber is fine.....it's the amount of carbs that's ridiculous.

I would totally buy into the idea of eating robocop food that was perfectly formulated nutritionally for every meal.

All the time saved between the grocery store and actually preparing food that isn't garbage nutritionally would be amazing.

This is 75% why I gave it a shot and bought a week's worth of the stuff.

The other 25% is that I know I'm not getting adequate nutrition because of having texture hangups with most normal foods.

I'll order a day's worth or something and see how it goes. I have a huge appetite so I'm not sure this stuff would keep me satisfied.

Week is the minimum. $85 for 7 "days" worth of the stuff plus a measuring scoop and a mixing pitcher.

Stuff like lettuce, tomato and onion makes me want to puke the second I bite into them. Kind of not wanting to try anything else with cellulose in it.

I'm the same way. I have to keep a pretty huge caloric intake up for my metabolism so this would definitely help but I'd need to add some flavor.

We should start a Soylent recipe thread! Besides people what can we add?

Obviously vanilla or chocolate for a drink.

What would be perfect is if you could also use it to make a dip. I know it's already carb heavy but if I could make a soylent humus type of thing it'd be more convenient and more palatable than a heavy drink.

Which I currently do but that is far more of a pain in the ass to manage and also not exactly a balanced diet. This would both simplify things and have better nutritional value.

I thought all these shakes caused flatulence. I used to drink a chocolate flavored one and, yea. Didn't do much for me though. Eating right, and towards your goal, coupled with working out, is the way to go.

I do none of these things ATM. But I'll NEVER be overweight.
