After thinking about it, I guess it makes sense if this indeed is the rule.

The padding only exists for the safety of the outfielder, if there was no pad, it wouldn't have went out. Maybe MLB recognized this very unlikely possibility that a pad could help balls get out, and they did not want to create a perverse incentive for a team that doesn't hit homers to remove all their pads.

I have MLB tv and was catching up on the game to start watching it live. When I hit 'R1' on my PS4 controller it skips to the next inning.

I have MLB tv and was catching up on the game to start watching it live. When I hit 'R1' on my PS4 controller it skips to the next inning.

This also lets me see how many minutes the half inning was . When the top of the 2nd was 20+ minutes, I thought we were doomed. Turns out, 20 minutes with 0 runs. I wonder how many times that has happened :D
