I've never had the impression that Glass was insanely rich, like say Mike Ilitch, who's worth billions. If he's only worth 500-800 million or so, he's not going to lose $50 million a year on the team. No businessperson is going to do that. Wayne Huizenga did it for that one year with the Marlins, won the World Series, and said screw this and sold the team. I don't know how much Glass is worth though, he's super rich but I think the impression was always that he was not a billionaire like Ilitch or Pohlad. Or the people who own the Dodgers.

Looking at all the Blue I see when in KC and the crowds I see every night I'd have to think they are doing pretty well. I'll never be a billionaire, but to me if you buy a team you do so to compete.
