The Jacksonville Jaguars appear set to play a home game in London through the year 2030 (http://www.bigcatcountry.com/2015/8/21/9186495/jaguars-to-play-in-london-through-2030-report-says), at least according to a new report in The Times (subscription required). The meat of the article is debunking a report that Jaguars and Fulham owner Shad Khan was looking to offload his soccer team, Fulham, in favor of buying a much bigger club in London, Tottenham Hotspur.

Update 10:30 AM: Jim Woodcock, Shad Khan's representative has released a statement on the report.

There is no agreement but discussions have been frequent and promising. Shad and the Jaguars have been clear that the London agreement has been extremely successful and essential to the local revenue streams and long-term viability of the franchise in Jacksonville, and that an extension of the current agreement would be welcomed. That said, this is ultimately a decision that will be made by the NFL. The one thing that is certain is Shad’s commitment to the Jaguars and Jacksonville is as strong as ever.

So, it certainly seems like the 2030 agreement isn't official at this moment, but it's potentially something that is being worked towards.

Jaguars are the perfect team to move to London.

They're shitty, the NFL doesn't care about losing them, and their mascot matches up nicely with England's Jaguar cars.

Yeah, I guess if the NFL is going to hose a franchise, they might as well do it to one with an almost non-existent fanbase. Still though, the few fans they do have should be super pissed off.

You know, I think it is complete bullshit to give up s home game.

If the league is serious, go to 3 preseason games, add a 17th game to the season and have 16 games outside of the us. Every team plays 1 neutral site game, and use the bye week for those teams to eliminate the disadvantage that follows the travel week.

The team might. But the city and businesses of Jacksonville are getting fucked over hard. Hence why "Essential to local revenue streams" is a crock of shit for everyone except the owner of the Jags.

Except the sentence specifically says "In Jacksonville."

The Jaguars have a lot more season ticket holders than you would imagine. They sold over 57,000 season tickets last year. These owners are crazy. The Redskins sue people for not being able to keep up with season ticket contracts. The Lions revoked the season tickets of the guy last year that sold his seats to the guy with a laser pointer. Now, they want to stretch these games overseas and away from the local population that paid to build the stadiums for the team to play in. It's ridiculous.

I'd say that's a bit of a reach. How many people do you think actually travel to watch the Jaguars?

exactly. This would definitely never fly in a city with a strong fanbase though.

KC, Dallas, New York, Philly, Green Bay. etc....

The fans would revolt in these cities.
