I find this pretty incredible but not terribly surprised... I've liked what I have seen from Howard however. I say hold Poe out until week 2 no matter what.

What would you do with him?!

Back issues effect everyone differently. it doesn't surprise me that a super athlete like Poe can recover faster than the average human being.

This would be great-but if he at least can play against the Donks-that would give the team a big lift.

Per reports - the Donk offense looks like crap so far. In other news-large amounts of cooking spray has been flying off the shelves in the Denver area.

This as well. Couple this statement with Chiefs=Good's theory and you've got a quickly healed back. Hell, Alex Gordon ripped his fucking groin muscle like 5-6 weeks ago and he hit a home run in AAA Omaha last night. These guys are physically gifted and heal faster than the rest of us.

Fuck it, just let him sit the opener and heal up one more week. The Bronco game is a Thursday night game - let him be ready for that and Manning instead of going against Brian fucking Hoyer and the Texans. Jaye Howard has looked to be capable in the middle for one game at the very least.

It's HGH. It's legal, especially if prescribed by a doctor.

Plus, they have nutritionists and trainers but it's the HGH. The body heals faster with it than without it and so far, unlike steroids, there aren't any side effects.

additional context (from ESPN):

A little more than a month after Chiefs nose tackle Dontari Poe had surgery to remove a herniated disk from his back, coach Andy Reid opened the possibility that he could be ready to play in the Sept. 13 regular-season opener against the Texans.

"He's doing great," Reid said. "He's made big strides. I can just tell he's at least on schedule, if not a little bit ahead. He's had a great attitude with the whole thing.

"He says he's going to play in the first game. I go, 'OK, all right, we'll see.' Then the doctors have to evaluate him. That's really the thing -- the time and how it's healing. That's up to the docs."

Dontari Poe has been present at Chiefs training camp despite being sidelined after back surgery. Peter Aiken/Getty Images

Poe will not practice Monday as the Chiefs get back to work for the first time since Friday night's preseason win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Poe had the surgery, called a microdiscectomy, on July 15 in his hometown of Memphis. He rejoined the Chiefs in time for the start of their recently concluded training camp and, though he never made it to the practice field while his teammates were working, he was a common sight around the campus of Missouri Western State University.

Poe could be seen making his own way around campus to join his teammates in the cafeteria for meals and working out in the team's weight room.

Asked whether it was realistic to expect Poe back by the Houston game, Reid said, "We'll see."

"Let's see how he does in this phase with the exercise part of it," Reid said. "So far, it's gone well, but let's see how that goes. That's kind of where the docs are at. He hasn't run or done that. So we'll see in that next phase where that goes. He's moving around. He hasn't had any setbacks, so I guess that's a positive."

It's one thing for Poe to be cleared to play, and another for a 345-pound player to get himself into football shape.

"There's shape, and then there's football shape you have to get into," Reid said. "They're two different things. You can be great distance running and all those things and lifting, but there's the football playing part of it that you have to get yourself used to doing."

I didn't read that story but i don't think it's ever been proven to actually cause cancer. I used to be part of the weight lifting community and it was generally consider by most that HGH doesn't cause cancer but it will speed cancer up.

HGH kicks your system into high gear. Which mean it also kicks cancer into high gear. Cancer's growth is already faster than normal so HGH is not a good thing to take if you have cancer.

Gotcha... I said at least 10-12 weeks. So, since he had it surgery Jul 15, then 10 weeks would be week 3 regular season. Correct?

However, I think it will be more like the full 12 or longer. (and I said so back then) We'll see. In any case, the heated discussion was about him not being able to play week 1 and NO WAY that happens.
