we are so ****ed up as a team right now....I blame a lot of it on Cueto indirectly. I think when we got him the team really got their hopes up and I think his suck has started carrying over to the rest of the team...our entire pitching staff is sucking, our bats are sucking, we are making dumb mistakes in the field and on the base paths...

And every game we lose I think is just adding onto the pressure and getting these guys to press.

Oh, there you are. You ok?

petegz28
09-14-2015, 05:31 PM
Also I think Yost, indirectly, created an environment of complacency...running out all those lineups with call ups, acting like we've locked up something when in reality we haven't won shit yet.

Then you trade for Gomes and don't play Gomes against LHP's, which was the plan, you took Infante out and elected to keep Rios in and that's starting to look like it's hurting our defense.

And then you moved Esky to 9th from 1st.

Not saying they were the wrong moves but maybe Ned fucked with things too much?

Then there is Dave Eisland.....he has to shoulder some of this blame. I think 1 out of our last who knows how many games we didn't allow a run in the 1st inning. We have allowed a shit ton of first inning runs. And tonight when we take the lead it's given back 1 batter later. Point is our entire staff is looking the same from pitcher to pitcher regardless of starter or relief save Davis and perhaps Ventura.

If he's not hurt then it's all mental.

I think he's let the weight of high expectations drag him down.

I'm not worried about the bats. We'll get those going again. That said, our pitching has concerned me for some time. With Cueto pitching batting practice, Volquez playing like ass, Duffy being a pyscho, it's hard to gather a warm and fuzzy feeling about post season. Hope shit changes real soon

That means we only have to play .260 ball
Problem is right now is we're playing just about that.....

You really have a desperate need to worry about Minnesota. None of it is based in reality.

What current pace are you referring to them continuing on? Their last 10 is .500. The season is .521. You have them finishing at .650 winning percentage. Their current pace suggests they will when 9-10 games not 12-13.

You are obsessed with Minnesota.

Just to correct your math, if the Twins do go 12-7, which is really good couple weeks but certainly possible, the Royals have to finish 2-17 to lose the division outright.

If we manage to win only 5 games like you suggest, the Twins have to finish 15-4.

Prince Fielder just hit a homer to put the Rangers ahead of the Astros in the 8th inning. They could be 0.5 games back.

Literally no one is talking about Texas but they are a bigger threat than people think. They have tons of playoff experience and Hamels/Holland at the front of their rotation. They can do more damage than people probably expect.

Literally no one is talking about Texas but they are a bigger threat than people think. They have tons of playoff experience and Hamels/Holland at the front of their rotation. They can do more damage than people probably expect.

They're a shit team that's been out scored by nearly 30 runs on the year.

We should all be rooting for Texas to win the division in the event we lose home field.

You know how to read stats but it often seems like you don't know how to use them with any context.

Why would you even look at their yearly stats? They've had Hamels for 7 starts and Holland for 6. It's like they got two aces at the deadline.

They are 26-15 since August 1st. They are +16 in that span. I still argue their top three of Hamels/Holland/Gallardo is good as any pitching staff in the American League at this point. Fielder, Beltre, Hamilton, Choo can all hit, they steal bases. They probably aren't the best team on paper but they've got weapons. If we end up playing them in the 1st round I would not be the least bit surprised.

I don't know if I agree. I would pick the Royals against either but I think it's a wash at this point. We don't hit lefties, and Houston can throw Keuchel/Kazmir at us. Texas can throw Hamels/Holland. It worries me.

We literally don't know for sure who our #1 in the playoffs is. Toronto doesn't know who their #2 is. The Rangers have Hamels, Holland, and can follow that up with Gallardo, who can pitch at almost an ace level. He's one of two pitchers to hold Toronto to 1 run or less in the last month. Tanaka from the Yankees has done it twice. They can hit homers, steal bases, and their bullpen isn't great but they've got 3-4 guys at the back end pitching pretty well. I know the playoffs are a crapshoot anyway but they are in good shape.

19 games left after tonight....we will be up by 9 games with a magic number of 11

If the Twins continue on their current pace they will go 13-6 or 12-7
We have to win at least 5 games....

That means we only have to play .260 ball
Problem is right now is we're playing just about that.....

So what's this mean? If we don't get our shit together we could be playing the Twins in their house for the Division in our last series of the season

and we would have had the biggest collapse in baseball, ever

2 game lead over Toronto for #1 seed
7.5 game lead over Houston for #2 seed!
