Luck hasn't been great in his NFL career yet. He has lived on his "elite prospect" name since the day he was drafted while playing in the NFL's worst division.

It's why I have laughed about the Andrew Luck envy since day 1. Russell Wilson has been the best QB in that class, period.

Luck has every tool in the bag but to suggest he's on the level of Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Tony Romo, Peyton Manning, or Ben Roethlisberger is pretty laughable. He isn't. He's as turnover prone as any NFL QB.

Smith > Romo by way of collar bone.

Romo's health has been his one big NFL flaw. He's injury prone.

It will forever be hilarious to me how underrated he is. At the very best, Andrew Luck has been a Tony Romo redux to start his NFL career ... yet, we've anointed Luck because he's the "best QB prospect since Elway" while we shit all over Romo.

Last year, Russell has a trying game in the NFC Championship Game and the GDT on this board just eviscerates the guy ... mock him for 500+ posts straight. Call it "Marshawn Lynch's" team. Totally ignore his heroics to somehow win that game and shit on him relentlessly for being carried by everyone around him.

Luck has an even worse AFC Championship Game, gets destroyed, you hear nothing but *chirps* and excuses.

Starts 2015 by getting blown out by the Bills and the Jets....

NO ONE questions his performance. Instead, it's all the head coaches fault.

I will never understand why some QB's (Luck, Rodgers, Brady) get a pass, no matter what, for everything ... while other guys (Peyton, Romo, Wilson) get fucking destroyed any time their team gets anywhere close to a loss.

It's all total bias bullshit.

Luck is a good NFL QB ... but this board has overrated the guy to a laughable degree. He's nowhere close to elite NFL QB. He's a glorified Jay Cutler to this point.

Russell Wilson's teams have allowed 19 points per playoff game. The problem is Hootie takes this as some affront that Wilson has done something wrong, he hasn't... he's done a great job. But scoring 20 points is much easier than 31. It's not rocket science.

People give Russell no credit.

He's had a great defense which has certainly helped him get wins, but he also hasn't had much in the way of receiving threats or offensive line at the same time. The running game is great but that's due in large part to him. He's good for 50 YPG himself and there's no way to measure the effect he has on opening lanes for Marshawn.

Then people will compare stats as if that's fair. Luck attempts about 200 passes more per season than Wilson. No shit he throws for more yards. The funny thing is, prior to the 2014 season, Wilson still had thrown for more TDs. He's insanely more efficient than Luck.

Hootie
09-21-2015, 11:42 PM
Russell plays in a division with San Fran, Arizona and STL.
Luck plays against 3 of the worst teams in the NFL every year.

Luck gets 100% credit for every single Colts win.
Wilson gets 0% credit for anything the Seahawks do.

Luck is a QB that gets every excuse no matter what he does. Pagano got the blame on CP tonight.

Whereas, on MNF, if Peyton, Tony, Alex, Wilson, etc... put on that performance ... who gets the blame?

People, tk13 for the most part, paint me as having this narrative on guys when it's really the other way around.

Colts win, Andrew is God.
Colts lose, Andrew didn't have enough help and his coach is an idiot.

Must be nice.

tk13
09-21-2015, 11:45 PM
I'm just messing with you because you deify Manning.

Luck will always get more credit than someone like Stafford or Cutler because Luck is actually dragging a bad defense to the playoffs and winning games. His running backs in the playoffs last year were Dan Herron and Zurlon Tipton, and the 19th ranked scoring defense. Come on now. You guys aren't that dense. You just like being difficult.

Hootie
09-21-2015, 11:50 PM
I have no issues with being an Andrew Luck fan. If he'd start playing like Rodgers, Romo or Brady I'd say, "boy, Luck is truly an elite NFL QB. He's good!"

He has just never showed that to me. Never. He has always excelled in games where he puts his team in a giant hole to begin with. He'll have 3 games a year that his team will get destroyed in where they have no business being destroyed. He misses guys a lot, he's turnover prone, he fumbles the ball a ton ...

He also makes those "Joe Flacco" jump off the screen flash plays where you're like, "why can't he do that more?"

He's somewhere between the 8th - 14th best QB at this point.

I am just bothered by the amount of excuses some guys get. Tom Brady has earned it. Tom Brady is allowed to have bad games and get excuses.

Andrew Luck does not. If Andrew Luck was a 3rd round pick with no pedigree ... there would be Colts fans who would want "a 1st round QB!!!" I promise you that.

He has not arrived yet. He's not elite. He has a ways to go.

tk13
09-21-2015, 11:51 PM
I think Wilson is a great QB. You guys take it as some kind of insult. The Seahawks don't just have a good defense, they have a GREAT defense. They have finished #1 in scoring and yards each of the last two years. That's a really impressive accomplishment.

They only thing I don't like is people going on spouting how QB is the only thing that matters and Russell Wilson carries the team. That's a bunch of crap. They have one of the greatest defenses of all time, especially in this era of touch football. What they have done is amazing, and they will not get back to the Super Bowl unless their defense plays better than it has. They are the strength of that team. They take all kinds of pressure off Wilson and Lynch, and make it so that if they can manage 2-3 scores in a game, they will win.

would they be the #1 in scoring and yards if Wilson turned the ball over 25 times a year?

The truth is ... a guy like Russell Wilson and a team like the Seahawks take a ton of pressure off the defense by never putting them against the wall ... Russell doesn't turn the ball over, they have a ball control offense, and never put the defense in a short field situation.

I'm not saying Seattle doesn't have a great defense. They do. It's amazing. I'm saying if Seattle had a guy like Luck turning the ball over 25 times and a team that slings the ball all over the field and gets the defense no rest ... you don't think that would correlate negatively towards some of those metrics?

Do you really believe Luck would turn the ball over 25 times if he had that defense? You realize why he takes risks with the ball right? I do agree he needs to cut down on the turnovers and he is more careless with the ball than Wilson.

But you're still looking at it the wrong way. When one guy has to score 17 points and the other has to score 31, who do you think is going to take more chances with the football? Who knows, maybe he'll just turn into Brett Favre. But Luck has never played on anything resembling a team with a championship defense. What did Peyton Manning do when he was playing with the early 2000's Colts? He had 81 INT in his first four years.
