Most useless 'Holiday'?
Why is this still a federal holiday?
The dude didn't discover shit.
Yay, he found new land that was already inhabited by people.

It's gives all the lazy overpaid union government workers ANOTHER day off while the other 99% of us work!
At least traffic here today around the beltway will be light

Umm...Banks are closed too.
What a holiday...celebrating one of the biggest POS in our history.
I've read where some cities have changed this to Indigenous People's Day. I understand the reasoning, but, while I'm sure such a holiday would be recognized, I wonder if the federal government and banks would give their employees the day off for that.

It gives me four days off so I could care less about the meaning, as long as I get more time with the family.

Once upon a time, a guy sailed to the wrong place, killed the people he found, and took their stuff. As a result, 523 years later, my bank is not open.
This is a true story.

It's my birthday, so I like that about it and when I was a kid, I got cake and stuff before Halloween, so October was all about the extra sweets. Now I don't care about cake, though.

Ok, you got me a little. ONCE in a great while, I do like a slice of homemade German chocolate cake. But it's not often. I made my own cake 2 years ago and that was the first one I baked. Store bought ones, however... dry as a desert on cloudless day and I can do without!
