Pierre Thomas to work out for Chiefs

Pierre Thomas AP

Ben Tate won’t be the only veteran running back coming in to Kansas City for a look in the wake of Jamaal Charles’s knee injury.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Chiefs will also have former Saints tailback Pierre Thomas in for a workout this week.

Thomas was released by the Saints in March in a cap move and has had his name come up in conjunction with a few teams in the last six months. When Arian Foster had groin surgery this summer, there were reports that Thomas would sign with Houston but the two sides never came to an agreement.

Thomas spent eight years in New Orleans and was a valuable piece as both a runner and receiver over that span for the Saints. He never produced at the same level as Charles, but the Chiefs aren’t going to find that kind of a player under any rock and Thomas’s receiving skills could be particularly appealing now that Charles is out of the picture.

Can he pass the ball?

No seriously I'm no fan of Tim Tebow but he would make games interesting & run the ball as a HB. It would bring media and attention to a sick deprived fanbase.

Could.

Like him or not he would be fun watch as a running back and some trick plays. If he got pounded it wouldn't make much difference so it at least would be fun experiment .

If we started winning that be hilarious and funny if we beat Denver in Denver with TT not that i'd expect it but just throwing shit at the wall and bullshitting for sake of anything would be better than this season has to offer if they wont put Aaron Murray in anytime soon.

I don't see why you wouldn't want to just give West a shot and see what else you have in Davis. If the Chiefs were 4-1, then sure, try and bring in a reliable vet, but c'mon....
