Everything about that God-forsaken Mickey Mouse Monkey-worshipping franchise disturbs me.

But we're their daddy now.

"OK.... so if the Jacksonville Jaguars are known as the "Jags" and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are known as the "Bucs," what does that make the Tennessee Titans?" - George Carlin

One of my favorite sports jokes.

If that bothers you, ponder what UMB Bank stands for.

I spend most of my bank name thinking on Fifth Third Bank.

It was probably originally named 5th & 3rd meaning the corner it was on but just got contracted.

As a former customer of that bank, I was told that said name came about when 5th Bank and 3rd Bank merged.

I doubt 5th and 3rd streets, anywhere, would ever be crossing streets ... they'd always have to be parallel

Could be a street/avenue/boulevard intersection.

Numbered streets and avenues intersect all over Manhattan.

It seems like they should have become Eighth Bank in that case.

Good thing it's 5/3rd and not 3/5th. There would be some offended folks.

You ever used the ATM Machine at UMB Bank?

How cool would it be to use the ATM Machine by UMB Bank at The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim?

It only translates that way if you are only translating the words you choose to translate. The full translation is Los The Angels Angelos.

I have been getting a lot of joy out of my George Carlin station on SiriusXM

Yes, the name is stupid and redundant and the same thing over again.

When you think about a lot of these names they are stupid as shit, another example Buffalo Bills a pluralized version of some old west showman that had nothing to do with the city and isn't represented at all in any of their branding...

I don't think Lions have roamed Detroit for 10,000 years, either. They should be the Detroit Striking Auto Workers if they want a realistic and intimidating name.

If someone put a bank at the corner of Fifth and Third...that town must have a street grid that is diagonal, circular, and disappears into itself...

Oh yeah, I only care about baseball when the Royals are kicking ass.

The last time I cared about NBA basketball, Jordan and the Bulls had that series against the Stockton/Malone Utah Jazz. So that was Jr High or High school.

I've been to Manhattan.

It smells bad.

Not as bad as downtown though...:spock:

The one that makes me cringe every time I see it is "B.A.S.S." You talk about being redundant. You'd think they could come up with something a little more relevant.

No need to get hostile to union workers. Unions built our middle class society.

It only translates that way if you are only translating the words you choose to translate. The full translation is Los The Angels Angelos.

In what world does 'translate' mean change each and every word to a different language?

It generally means, unifying a phrase under a common, usually new, language. If parts of the phrase are already in said language, they remain unaltered.
