Not as much depth at TE as MLB, which explains the snub. They only have 4 MLBs. (Kuechly, Wagner, Matthews, and Bowman)

This... Peters directly won us two games this year. He iced the Ravens last week with his first pick, and he also iced the Raiders.. Also had that deflection that went right into the hands of DJ. DJ should have made it for sure though.

Wow, a rookie CB making the pro bowl? That's awesome. I like seeing ascending players in the pro bowl like Kelce and Peters, along with players just entering their peak like Berry and Houston. It's funny too that CP keeps reading Tamba's obituary and he keeps making pro bowls.

When I think about injustice, I think my top choices would be:

Derrick Johnson - If there's a better ILB this year, I want to see him. I don't think one exists.

Jeremy Maclin - He's been invaluable to the team and has great stats, though in fairness a lot of receivers have great stats in the modern world.

Sean Smith and Dontari Poe - Both have played at a pro bowl level for 3/4ths of a season, but that may not be enough.

Cairo Santos and Dustin Colquitt - The guys have had a great year, but that Patriots kicker and Ravens punter kickblocked them and had an even better year.

Jaye Howard - He doesn't have the reputation yet, but he was a pro bowl lineman this year.

Kuechly is better than DJ but you're right he should of made it over Matthews this year.

Maclin probably wouldn't even make it as a reserve. Robinson from the Jags who has ridiculous numbers didn't even make it.

Smith was out a few years and doesn't have the reputation as Revis or Sherman.

Poe was also out for some games and started off slow.

Santos has missed 7 FGs and 2 XPs.

Colquitt has had a decent year but not his best year.

Howard had been great in run support but when you don't play every down its hard to get recognized

If you are solely looking for a quarterback who slings the rock with high yardage totals and TD-INT numbers, than yes Smith is far from a Pro Bowler.

If you're looking for a guy who has the 3rd highest Total QBR since week 7 and consistently 'does the job' efficiently, than maybe it is something considerable.

Okay, I just saw it.

But keep in mind, Rothlisberger has more yards, more TD's, a higher completion percentage, 111 yard more per game, has taken 26 less sacks and his QB rating is .5 points less than Alex Smith.

Add to the fact that he's missed 5 games this year (and missed parts of others) and you're looking at a QB that's superior to Alex Smith.

Now, that doesn't mean that "Alex Smith sucks", far from it actually, it just means that Ben has had a really great year.

I'll humor you. You didnt directly say it. A claim was made that it would be ridiculous to say Alex should be a PBer....to which you responded with saying Alex has a higher passer rating that Big Ben and Big Ben is a Probowler.

So if we are wrong that your implication was that it is NOT ridiculous that Alex could be a Pro Bowler because his passer rating is higher than Ben's, what exactly was the point of posting that?

My point is that it wouldn't be out of the question for Alex Smith to make the PB, so it isn't as ridiculous as they think. He has a higher passer rating and he has led his team to 8 straight wins and playoff contention after going 1-5. Coupled with the fact that the world outside of CP doesn't hate Alex Smith so the voters may feel different than the CP usual suspects.

Right. You werent advocating Alex OVER Ben as much as you were saying if Bens passer rating is good enough to make him a Pro Bowler, then Alex's should be too.

To which I respond, you cant just nitpick ONE statistical measurement and then make a claim that it isnt out of the question or ridiculous at all. You need to look at the entire body of work.

And the funny thing about you nitpicking Alex's passer rating is the fact that his passer rating is good enough to make him 9th in the NFL. Lol

The Steelers are 7-3 with Ben this season. The Chiefs are 9-5 with Alex. That's a .7 win percentage to .69. Advantage Roethlisberger.

Ben's got the higher completion percentage, more yards, higher YPA, and more TDs despite playing in 5 less games.

There's nary an argument you can make that favors Alex. He throws less INTs. That's it.

Dude, QBR is a ridiculously silly, bogus stat:

Start with .095 and subtract interceptions divided by pass attempts. Divide that product by .04. To gain 2.375 in percentage of interceptions, a passer would have to go the entire season without an interception. Add the sum of 1-4, multiply by 100 and divide by 6.

He's had a plethora of injuries to his perimeter weapons. Harvin has basically missed the entire season, Watkins has missed time, and Lesean McCoy was ineffective until about week 5. He's also got the 17th ranked scoring defense.

That's it.

Yeah, was thinking the same thing... Kelce has fewer receptions, yards and TDs than both those guys and aside from maybe 2 games, he's been good, but not great.

So YAC is now the criteria for making a Pro Bowl?

He trails Walker, Barnidge and Reed in receptions. (despite playing 1 more game than Walker and 2 more than Reed)

He trails Walker and Barnidge in yards, and is only 44 ahead of Reed. (despite playing 2 more games)

And has 2 fewer TD than Walker, and FIVE fewer than Reed and Barnidge.

Add in Gronk and Olsen who are dominating the position, and there are 5 guys for 4 spots before Kelce should even be considered.

He's had a good season, but not better than those 5.

Yeah, and it's not like he's been dominating or has had that "defining game" like some of the others have had this season. And, he has 2 fumbles while the others have 0. You can't say it's getting in on name or history, he doesn't have much history. Odd selection.

If you can easily justify 3 other guys at the position... it's pretty questionable, aside from YAC... dude rocks the house there.

Barnidge got shafted.

not bad considering he's an interior lineman. There's 64 starting pass rushers in the NFL be it DE or OLB.
Then you have ILB's like DJ who get more pressures on blitzes.

How does he compare to Calais Campbell?

And with Eifert being hurt, I forgot about him completely.
