January is the time for annual chamber banquets, and I find myself going to a lot in the region. The St. Joe Chamber annual banquet is a big one, usually hosting 1k people and is the evening of January 9. I've been warning them for years that eventually they are going to conflict with a Chiefs playoff game, and I wonder if this could be the year.

Pretty simple. Skip the banquet (if the Chiefs are playing).

Well, if we end up playing Houston I'd fully expect to get that 3:30 Saturday afternoon slot that no one watches outside of the markets of the two teams playing.

This.

If I was a betting man the matchups of right now:

Saturday
3:30 - Chiefs at Texans
7:00 - Seahawks at Packers

Sunday
Noon - Vikings at Redskins
3:30 - Jets at Broncos

The short answer is, yes. They try and get games into favorable time slots for the local markets of the teams involved at least. As for whether they put bigger matchups into prime time, that's tough to say.

Exactly what I would expect as well.

Unless it is Chiefs Broncos we will get the Saturday early slot.

I just looked at KU's BB schedule and I too don't want the Chief to play that night because KU is playing that night.

That looks about right. Chiefs best chance to get a prime spot is play Denver... that'd be a featured game for sure.

The biggest possible wrench might be if the Jets lose and the Steelers get in. A Steelers/Bengals matchup is a big rivalry, and it's the Steelers. I could see CIN/PIT on Saturday night and then SEA/GB on Sunday afternoon on FOX. That'd move WSH/MIN to early Saturday, KC to noon Sunday, but that's all in theory.

Even Andy Reid is excited...
For those of you coming on Saturday, you won't have to miss any of the Chiefs playoff game! The game will be shown at the Sponsors Reception and at the Civic Arena.

If you are an Annual Banquet sponsor, you should have received tickets to the pre-banquet reception at Commerce Bank downtown. Two 70-inch TVs will be playing the game there from 5:30 to 6:30.

Doors open for the banquet at 6:30 p.m. at Civic Arena. The game will be featured on one of the giant screens there.

Fingers crossed the Chiefs take care of the Texans early and the game doesn't go into overtime, so the Annual Banquet program can start at 7 p.m. as planned..
