I need some advice regarding a production contract for a specialty crop. I don't know any and I'm not sure how far to trust the local yokels.

I don't know of any, but I just wanted to add a thought. Contract lawyers are pretty low on the list of "Types of Lawyers Not To Trust". If you contact one, and it's not something they're familiar with, or normally handle it from the opposing side of things, they'll refer you to someone they know. If no one knows anyone personally, you might look up the number for the local bar association nearest to you and see if they have a referral service.

I know a good one in Lawrence, KS. Not sure how much he knows about crops, per se, but he's really good with contracts. PM me if you would like his info

Many/most KC-area lawyers practice in both states

Heya brother, I'm thinking if you contact the head of your local farmers co-op, they'd be able to help out. That type of thing is pretty common in Nebraska so I'd think it would be in KS too.

I doubt it. They retain a council that is older than God. My buddy is the CEO. I'll shoot him a text.

Maybe just call a Lawyers office there in Scott City and ask for a referral.

Yeah, me, but don't know diddily about farm production contracts, so unfortunately I can't be of any help.

Buehler, I have a buddy that works for one of the big KC firms with an Agribusiness practice. I can shoot him a text if you'd like. Typically when you go this route, they'll refer you to someone good but cheaper if you don't want to pay big law prices.

The choice of a lawyer is an important decision and should not be based solely on this message board.

LOL

Here is something you probably could guess about me, but I'll put it to rest: There isn't a less creative person on this planet. There is a fairly low probability that I will need that kind of lawyer. EVER.

Thanks though :D

I'll send you a PM with a few better details. It may be simple enough that it isn't worth bothering him about.
