Sounds like there will be an announcement tonight.

70 years to the day that the Rams were moved from Cleveland to LA.

Well Dean is saying Dean is the victim. And if I'm Spanos, I absolutely sell that.

But Spanos balked at even getting the vote. Nothing stopped him from pursuing both routes.

He didn't want to foot any of the bill so he flat out gave SD the bird. If he were actually interested in making it work, he'd have followed both courses. The relocation paperwork could've still been filed had the December vote not gone as planned. Just exactly what the hell else do Dean and his lawyers have to do in that time period?

Spanos has an easy scapegoat, but it doesn't take much critical thinking to see that he's trying to pass the buck because he simply didn't like the deal he was offered.

Oh of course.

But it doesn't change the fact that our Mayor was dragging his feet on this. The Mayor could've gone the citizens initiative route and we wouldn't even need a vote. On top of the fact that he wasted 3 months with this ridiculous "Task Force" that ended up being completely useless.

Kronke has even a harder time but Oakland screwed the Davis family over very few fan's in oakland take the cities side the Warriors are leaving the A's want out and so do the raiders there is a reason for that.

I thought the A's were getting a new stadium? No?

And that is why the owners would love for Mark to sell the team he is poor as hell.

To my understanding, the issue isn't that Mark is "poor as hell", but the fact that it's his mother that ACTUALLY owns the team, and when she passes, an estate Tax will be due. The topic of selling the team seems to be centered around whether or not Mark can pay for an Estate Tax that'll be in the hundreds of millions.

How have they been able to survive up to this point if there is not a lot of money or big business there ?

Or do they draw from the entire northern Cali and San Francisco area?

Yes and no. There's a ton of rich people. There's also a ton of middle class. There's also a ton of poor....its a pretty crazy mix

Raiders fans come mainly from outside of Oakland, proper I would guess....there's a ton of suburban areas there....with money...and there's also a ton of working class middle income areas all within a short distance.

I don't have a lot to say. On one hand, I'm happy that a person who doesn't give a shit about St. Louis or his fanbase is gone and the city won't be completely fucked by millions of dollars. On the other, I feel heartbroken. I can't describe the words exactly.

When a city proposes a plan to invest $400 mil. in a stadium and two cities, one of which isn't making a financial commitment to keeping a team(Oakland) and another hasn't secured public financing(San Diego) get rewarded, I'm pissed. The NFL just cares about its bottom line.

Fuck Kevin Demoff for lying to the fans' faces.

And most of all, fuck you Stan Kroenke. Fuck your mustache. Fuck you for being a so called "true son". Enjoy LA. I hope Arsenal, the Avalanche, the Rams, and the Colorado Rapids all finish last. And I hope every single team finishes "below average" in attendance and you use the bullshit excuse (for the Avalanche and Nuggets) for Denver being a football town and use the excuse for LA (for the Rams) of LA being a NBA/MLB town.

StL was coming off the double stings of ubershit owner Bidwell pulling a Colts' midnight move and getting a huge snub in the expansion process with the Stallions.

And at the time of the move, there may have been pockets of diehard fan pain, but the city of LA was largely 'meh, when do the Lakers start up again?'

Well that. And that the city built a 100% publicly funded stadium within the past 20 years. And dedicated $400 mil. in public money to build another stadium. And the NFL still gave STL the middle finger.

I've lost 20 pounds within the past 5 months and couldn't be feeling better physically. Health is fine(knock of wood).

And I feel, mentally, I'm in a good place. I haven't cried in awhile. Just hurts that the sport I loved and played is gone (at the highest level) now.

I haven't lived in KC in 16 years, but I'd be pissed off to no end if they packed up and left town. Although you could look for another team to follow and the Chiefs are just a few hours up the road from you, it will take a while to get that same enthusiasm for another franchise.

Respect, man. What happened to St. Louis is wrong. I can't imagine how anybody in L.A. is seeing the Rams come back and thinking they actually want to invest their heart in that shitty franchise.

-Kroenke didn't say shit to the public for over 4 years and hadn't been involved in the community what so ever.
-Only negotiated the bare minimum through arbitration in which the city would have had to pay $700 mil. to renovate the Dome to keep the Rams in town for 10 more years guaranteed.
-The Rams COO denied well over a year ago that the Inglewood site would be a potential site for a Rams stadium on St. Louis radio.
-The Rams sent a 29 page proposal to relocate to LA that included bashing the city of St. Louis. And the fans for not supporting the team.
-Didn't talk with the governor until like November or December of 2015.
-Never spoke to the mayor.

In making their case for moving, Kronke cataloged in writing all the 'failings' of StL as a market. Talked about how, despite the Rams investing in players and personnel, the city gave them a shitty new stadium, and the stupid citizens wouldn't buy enough tickets or merchandise.

Pretty much. He's one of the 5 richest owners in the NFL. If, say, Mike Brown(owner of the Bengals) owned the Rams and wanted to relocate, it wouldn't happen. He doesn't have the $$$. Kroenke does and that's why the Rams are going to LA as the stadium is 100% privately financed.

Don't forget that he lied about some shit. For instance, the not supporting the team line. 86% attendance in it's 11th consecutive losing season? That's not fucking bad if you ask me. A friend of mine is a STH holder for the Rams.

He says the place is generally about 40% full and a few games were worse than that.

Rams fans can say they didn't turn out because Stan failed them, but they damn sure can't say they actually turned out. The fan support in STL had dried up.

I don't blame them for not showing up when their owner has been trying to move the team for several years now, but you can't argue that they are still showing up. The 'tickets sold' numbers can be inflated and manipulated a thousand ways (and they can still only claim 86%). But the main barometer of fan engagement is still going to be how many seats are filled on Sundays

What was said in the proposal was to the extent that the attendance was below average even though the win percentage under Kroenke as majority owner increased by 52% compared a certain amount of seasons prior to him becoming majority owner.

Which still dodges the whole fact that team only won 38% of its games with him as majority owner.

I don't see the NFL coming back to St. Louis, if ever.

No but Arizona was ticketed for the next expansion team at the time.

Had St. Louis ponied up for the stadium they eventually build in 1987, the Cardinals never go anywhere and Arizona getting an expansion team is a slam dunk.

Interesting. I've never heard that story before.

The oddest thing to me about the then Phoenix Cardinals is why they didn't change the name. Arizona Cardinals is better because it's more inclusive but IMO, the history should have remained in St. Louis, just as it did in Cleveland.
