Wife is having hernia surgery tomorrow. Nothing serious but if you could say a little prayer I would appreciate it.

I had a hernia operation the morning of Game 7 of the 2014 World Series. Yeah, great timing.

I was doped up on the pain killers but alert and watching the game. The pain in the abdomen is pretty bad, and it's amazing how much you realize you use your core when it's that sore.

It was kind of funny, though. I could barely move...until Gordo hit that ball in the 9th that got to the wall. I jumped up off the couch and screamed "run mother ******" as if nothing was wrong at all. Then I looked at my girlfriend shocked and said "wow, I just jumped straight off the couch!" She was just as shocked as I was because I could barely get out of the car and into the house before that.

It's amazing what even the adrenaline of being a fan can do.

Good luck to your wife. She'll be sore, but she'll be fine and it'll be worth it.

My wife had hernia repair about 15 years ago. It went well, but it was very painful for a while. Also, it still hurts her to this day. Sometimes it kind of sticks or catches when she stands up.

Thoughts and prayers for your wife.

I am going to the doc tomorrow about a hernia that showed up out of the blue last week. I expect I will be having an operation soon myself. It will be a first. In my 55 years of life the only surgery I have had was to get my tonsils out when I was 5 (dentistry doesn't count).

Okay, I have not spent any time in a hospital since I was 5.

I'm sure it'll go just fine, Buzz. Had this done about 4 years ago (the old fashioned way (i.e. non-arthroscopic)), and had very little pain afterwards. Didn't even need the pain meds. Was hitting golf balls 5 days later. Nonetheless, I'll certainly proffer a prayer that it goes as smoothly for your wife as it did for me. Good luck and take care.

Have had 2R and 2L inguinal hernia repairs over the years. Last one as two years ago. Comments about core are correct. Rest about 3-4!days, then return to moderate amount of activity.
