It has saddened me to see three icons, if you want to call Lemmy one, pass from cancer. I know how hard it is fighting the disease at my age, 48, so I can sympathize with how hard it has to be at 69 and 70. It also shows that being able to throw money at cancer doesn't mean a person will survive. Maybe care is much better here in the USA; I really can't say for sure. As one living with it, I can say this: I hope and pray none of these three who died, Lemmy, Bowie, and now Rickman ever felt like the disease won. I have said it before and will repeat that if I die from cancer, I hope no one who knew me ever says or thinks, "Ed lost his battle with cancer." It may kill me, but I can't let it beat me. I do hope I am around for the thread on here: No BS! They did it! Cancer has been eradicated!

Dude got his first acting job as Gruber at 41.

Die Hard is getting heavy play over the last month on one of the movie channels. I was just saying to my wife a week or so ago how surprised I was that Rickman never really became more mainstream.

I guess the Harry Potter movies were pretty big, but I didn't watch them so I don't know how big his role really was. It just seemed like he never became as popular as his talent suggested he should be.

There's always a role for a smirking villain and nobody did it better. His dry humor would've fit in a ton of movies as well. Damn sad news.
