OK, just got this setup with my new Galaxy S6, and it's a pretty cool experience. Anybody else tried these yet?

And the biggest problem seems to be that I may not be able to pry the phone away from the younger son. So there's that...

Hey maybe the NFL might get these in use to help young QB's to develop much faster as to what they are seeing in reading defenses. Imagine VR helmets for all the positions for mini-camps for the NOOBS. And coaches have audio into the helmets talking to the players in what they are seeing as both player and coach see the same play setup and execution.

If they go VR, perhaps we can all be Jamal Charles!

Bought this for my girlfriend for her Birthday and she's hardly touched it. Being the technophile that I am, it breaks my heart a little. Unless the Vive is over $1000, I'm buying it the day it becomes available.

LOL, I'm not sure where you'd get it, there seems to a rather sparse offerings, so unless Discovery "goes there," I'm not sure we'll be enjoying that any time soon.

But hey, it's only a matter of time...

So, what do they do ?

You put your phone in the front of it, the screen on the phone splits to side-by-side, and the lenses present the split screen as one image. From there they do a great job of giving a depth experience in many screens, and the rest of the magic is the videos shot with 360-degree cameras.

So when you more your head around you can see pretty-much the whole scene.

There's on video on Samsung's "Milk-VR" offer of the blue Angels that's just F'ing cool... It REALLY shows how close together they fly.

Very much worth the price of $0. I'm not sure I'd pay the $99 MSRP, but it's something very cool to play with.

Similar pair (pretty-much the exact same) shown with phone in..

Hunt should strap it to Andy's face and force him to watch every successful 2 minute drive in the history of the NFL.

Bought one about a month ago... took it to a family thing over the holidays and it was just as entertaining watching kids use it and freak out at various things.

The University of Michigan has some recruiting stuff on there... I think it's just pictures of the stadium, workout room, and campus, but I could see how it would be pretty useful. Could be used to sell homes, virtual traveling of course.

Sports would be great.. if they had a 360 camera above the field of NFL games or one on top of a helmet in hockey... skydiving, downhill skiing, etc.

The future could go from selfies and people looking through their phones during important moments of sporting events to having 360 cameras strapped to their head.

Porn is the major driving force of most video technology. VR and 3D etc.

I was watching a skiing deal and I almost fell over. Yeah, it'll get to you. And the Blue Angels video pretty-much did the same thing.

I've settled on having my calves against my man-chair for those. Still a very cool effect.

I didn't get shit when I got my S6 Edge.

LOL, the first 32gig one I got 12 days ago came with a $150 gift card, I went back to get the 64Gig model (they were out of them 12 days ago), and it was supposed to be a simple swap. AT&T showed how assholish they can be to the store reps, starting with not giving them a number to call when all 3 store employees encounter a code they've never seen, so it took two-and-a-half hours. All they were trying to do is make sure I didn't lose the unlimited data plan I've had for TEN years! By the time they were done (since AT&T wasn't helping at all) was to make it look like what we did 12 days ago never happened. So the 64gig deal came with these goggles and a 100 gift certificate. So I'm up to $250 of gift certificates and a pair of goggles.

All it cost me was the added pain of getting all the Apps moved. And in my case "FlightTrack Pro" is a must, and you can't the one that works with TripIt anymore since FlightTrack and TripIt aren't friends anymore, so I have to keep moving that one version. It's a pain, but it's worth it because of the travel I do.

And I'm not 1000% impressed with the S6 over the S5. From not changeable battery, to no SD card (hence going back for the 64Gig model), to no looping screens, it seems to have taken as many steps back as it did forward. The only reason I'm still not on the S5 was the MicroUSB port broke, so it can't charge. I've got the replacement port ready to install, but it's going to be a rather in-depth deal; it's a whole ribbon cable, includes the soft buttons under the screen, so it involves heating-up the screen and getting it back on. I've replaced screens before, only broken one in the process, but they're never quite the same once you do that. But hey, it was $6 and if it works it'll become the younger son's first phone.
