13th foot washes ashore in British Columbia

A coroner has confirmed that a foot that washed ashore in British Columbia is indeed human.

A hiker discovered the foot on Sunday near Port Renfrew, according to the Vancouver Sun. The foot was inside a running shoe and sock.

It's the 13th foot found on the British Columbia shore since 2007.

Investigators say, so far, there is no suspicion of foul play.

Ten of the previous discoveries, belonging to seven people, have been identified, according to investigators.

I've read about this before. Apparently the ankles are a weak spot in terms of body decay, so it's to be expected that they'll eventually separate if a body is floating around and decomposing. And then as mentioned earlier, they'll float because of the shoes.

Currents and there are lots of islands at the mouth of Puget Sound to alter currents. The shoes and feet don't decompose as fast as the rest of the body, they float, and the ankle detaches easily.
