Ooohh...If I were rich I buy this. No microwave. Rotary phones. Fresca in the fridge. Smoking Chesterfields by the kidney shaped pool. Listening to my vinyl collection in the faux leather basement man cave bar. Pure bliss....

That looks like a gaudy place Wayne Newton would love. They have retro places like that in Vegas I think.

Are the closets are filled with polyester pant suits and bell bottom pants?

When I was house hunting several years ago you could tell if the owners were older. I think at some point they no longer have a desire to do any updating. There were some homes that hadn't been updated for decades, but mostly still in good shape.

I suspect that when you retire, style probably takes a back seat to making sure you have enough money to eat.

When I do projects now, I've started thinking about the timing of my life. For example, I just had to replace my roof, and I was cursing at the timing. If it lasts 20 years, I'll have to replace it again when I'm in my mid-70s. Most likely, someone else will get the benefit of part of that next roof even though I paid for it, because I'll be dead. That kind of annoys me.

The house looks like a wealthier person made it look that way on purpose. It looks like an Elvis mansion. Not a legit old 70s house

Its news between football and baseball seasons.

Looking at those pics, I feel less worse of throwing out the crap from my parents house.

FWIW-story and a half. 50 cubic yards of stuff. Including clothes of mine from when I was 7.

The billiards parlor with the beautiful floor, rotary phones, the Goodfellas bar, and the gym can stay exactly as is... almost everything else in that house I would gut

Keep the best of the kitsch, all else must go

I'd walk around in a leisure suit, with my glorious chest hair in full view, long hair (possibly permed), mustache and aviator sun glasses. I'd have a 1978 El Dorado in the garage and a twelve pack of Rainier Beer in the fridge.

Oh yah, I'd have all my music on a reel-to-reel playing Led Zeppelin, Lynard Skynard, The Who, The Allman Brothers, Steely Dan... loud too.

I read the title and thought,"1970's? That's not going back very far".

Looked at the photos and it hit me: That was 35-45 years ago.... Sigh.

Updating the house to Made In China , forget that noise.
