Thunder part-owner and former Chesapeake Energy CEO Aubrey McClendon died in a car crash this morning in Oklahoma City, a day after being indicted on charges that could have put him in prison for decades.

News9 reported that a crew was attending to a one-vehicle crash on Midwest Blvd at around 9 a.m. local time. Oklahoma City police confirmed the 56-year-old McClendon as the victim.

On Tuesday, the Justice Department announced that McClendon had been charged by a federal grand jury with rigging bids between two oil and gas companies and violating the Sherman Antitrust Act. Each charge had a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison or a fine of $1 million.

It's all part of the plan. You believe he killed himself because you read it on the internet. You have no real proof it happened.

OKC will win the NBA championship this year, bank on it!

I bet it's a homeless guy's body, and he's on his yacht headed for the Lesser Antilles.

He bankrupted his company and was ousted 2 years ago. Was federally indicted yesterday for prosecution facing 10 years in prison and was supposed to turn himself in this morning.

Durant told him he was leaving OKC.

and no free agent superstar will want to go to OKC. Stern was very short sighted when he gave Bennett a free pass to move the Sonics.

They knew what they were doing when they moved a team there. They don't care about who's there or how good they are

San Antonio shouldn't be doing what they do.

If OKC is run correctly they can be competitive, but they are at a disadvantage.

I disagree. The Warriors, like the Raiders and A's, have been garbage forever.

In walks Peter Guber, who hires Jerry West and voila!

OKC can make it happen with smart people in place.

How many big time free agents does San Antonio sign? Aren't all their stars players that came up through their system?

The Spurs have the best international scouting department in the NBA but San Antonio is not a destination for free agent superstars.

It was definately a suicide.

Pretty sure if I was 60, and was going to get sentenced for ten years Id just liquidate as much assets as ai could and live out my remaining days in Costa Rica or something, rather than running my ass into a wall, but thats just me.

Does anyone really think this would be the selected choice of suicide? If you were him...would you chose this method? I sure as shit wouldn't...I would OD on heroin. Might as well roll out in a euphoric cloud of opietic bliss....or burn alive in a SUV. Very strange....or not really that strange if you understand the true nature of things.

It isn't the defendant's choice which punishment he gets. He would have likely done time and probably a lot of it.
