I might be glad that Kim Anderson killed all interest I had in college basketball this year.

I've watched 3 games today and this shit is nearly unwatchable. This 'exciting upset' in the Purdue game was essentially watching monkeys fuck a football. The game ends after Little Rock bricks 2 free throws to put it away, Purdue gets the rebound, takes it down the court and the PG falls down trying to drive the lane. And compared to the collisions between teammates in the paint and airballs on uncontested 3s, that was actually well played.

This is what college basketball has become now? Gawd, I'm sticking with the NBA.

Eh, today hasn't been a great representation of the quality of today's game. The tourney will improve once there are less games for the better refs to call.

I have literally watched zero minutes of college basketball.

Like I said, Kim Anderson murdered this sport for me. I've watched exclusively NBA this year.

I was just struck by how shitty the play in the showcase event has been. It's just been awful. These guys are bricking open 8 footers and when they hit some wild-ass prayer I'm supposed to act like it's some incredible feat of basketball prowess. Seriously, it took 38 minutes of dogshit to put a guy in the position to hit that prayer; I am not impressed.

The thing went to double OT with Little Rock not hitting a single FG in the first OT. Just staggeringly terrible.

I'll keep it on in the background to see if play improves, but that was almost certainly the worst basketball I've ever seen played and that includes my office 3 on 3 tournament last weekend (2nd place, bitches!)....

Gotcha. One of the main problems today is that mediocre ref teams don't know how to adapt to the updated rules. However, the more experienced referees tend to let the players play. It's made the top-billed match-ups much smoother and much more enjoyable to watch.

College players are terrible under the basket for the most part, which is the most annoying part for me.

But yeah, that game isn't a good representation overall, both teams were awful in the OTs. I also quit watching the KU game (already knew the final score anyway) because I was just watching whistles and free throws... that shit definitely takes away from it.

Both games were tough to watch. Austin Peay really ruined that one with hacking in an attempt to keep it close (and it doesn't help that their sole offensive strength is attacking the basket and getting foul calls).

It's the fact that regular season games really don't mean much at all to the teams playing in them (the Clippers didn't give a shit in the game you are talking about). I've only attended a few games this year (Raptors/Cavs, Raptors/Warriors) when I was certain both teams in it would try. On might nights in the NBA, you're just not going to get the effort and that's when it gets a bit drawn out. Playoffs are great, though.

Practically nobody does... I can understand bigs developing, learning how to be more aggressive at the rim, work on footwork and moves, etc.. but, even layups get ridiculous at times. Even someone as skilled as Wiggins had issues finishing at times, and he obviously had no issues getting there.

Yeah, I see it in hockey, too, especially when teams play back to back nights. I usually tune into the NBA on off nights of hockey during the playoffs, will probably give it another shot once again.

The game has evolved so much and guys have gotten so good at hitting 3s that the payoff just isn't there.

If you're a big man and you can either spend your time learning post moves or extend your range to 16 feet, you'll spend the time extending your range.

I think it's time the NBA takes a look at the 3 point line. The NFL realized that kickers were just too automatic so they adjusted the XP. The NBA has to recognize that shooting 33% on 3 pointers just isn't that tough anymore and when that's the case and you need to hit 50% on 2s to be equally efficient, why bother?

Yeah, there's some crotchety old man for me here. In the end, Golden State is universally seen as the most entertaining basketball out there right now and as much as I enjoy it, I can still only watch guys pass around the perimeter and huck 3s for so long. "Hurray...another 3 from the corner on a fast break....ugh".

I'd like to see some rule changes that bring a little balance back.

I tried to watch the Cavaliers and Clippers the other day, which is first I've tried in a couple years, but kept getting distracted and wasn't all that interested... I do appreciate the skill though.
There's no doubt about the skill level, but a lot of NBA games are snoozers. That's why they're constantly pumping loud music up and down the floor.

No, not even close to Mizzou/Norfolk State.

That game wasn't even the biggest upset that day, let alone tournament history. Duke lost to Legigh that same day in another 2/15 matchup.

Shit... I'd rather see UK at Scottrade then MSU losing on TV at Scottrade.

Kentucky basketball makes me feel good about sports again.

Perks of going to UK <3

Another perk is you have all of your Saturdays in the fall pretty much free since there is no reason to subject yourself to the suck that is Kentucky football.

Props to Lewdog for not melting down. I'd have burned the house down by now.

I get to see SEC football for like $5 a game.

Hell, I kinda wanna go to Tuscaloosa in the fall when UK likely will get their asses kicked by the Tide. All I care about seeing in football by the time I graduate is UK making a bowl game, beating Florida and Tennessee in Kentucky.
