There's a pretty big misconception about Norman and playing zone defense in general.

Nearly all of zone defenses turn into man coverage after just a few seconds of the play. Zone defense actually is more difficult for a lot of guys to play in some ways because it forces a CB to think a lot more, and diagnose.

I'm not saying I wouldn't rather have a guy who can follow the #1 everywhere and man up (if they are exceptional at it), but to be an elite corner, even when playing mostly zone, is still very impressive. Norman has to read route concepts every play, determine who he is going to take, if he is going to bait a QB, if he is going to play a bail technique, etc.

Zone defense is a thinking man's game at the corner position, where Norman flourishes. He also has enough athleticism to be elite at it.

Guess we'll find out. Norman is the best CB in football. I kind of doubt he'll be Haynseworth 2. I'm definitely glad he didn't sign with the Raiders.

You must be retarded.

I'd venture that at least 3 corners in this division, including the one we just let walk, outperformed Norman last season and all of them are under much better contracts than Norman.

OBJ is going to torch him if he can keep from going full retard.

That's before mentioning he was fucking atupid enough to get in a fight with the franchise QB last summer and could of ruined their Super Bowl appearance.

In summary Redskins are paying: Cousins $20 mil and Norman $15 mil = 35 mil

We are paying Alex Smith (17.8), Dontari Poe (6.1), Jamaal Charles (5.3), Ron Parker (3.6), Peters (2.2): = 35 mil

And Norman is not a system corner. I think this is a good signing. I don't generally ever expect much from the Redskins because they're owned by Caligula, but can't fault them for scooping up the best CB in football.

Corners I would absolutely take over Norman right now:

Peters
Harris Jr
Talib
Revis
Peterson
Mathieu
Sherman

Guys I can make a strong argument for taking over Norman:

Verrett
Slay
Trufant
Butler

I said it earlier... I like Norman's game.. being a great 'zone' corner is very difficult in it's own ways. But for me, he's not top 5.

The NFC East will have its typical 9-10 win team winner.

If Romo stays on the field, it's a battle between Washington and Dallas to get to 9 or 10 wins.

Didn't like their moves in FA.

They didn't address their terrible offensive line, paid a guy who got 7.5 sacks last year in a full schedule more per year than Justin Houston and JJ Watt, and signed a corner who has been super inconsistent for 12 million per.

Oh, and they have a new unproven head coach. I'm very meh on the Giants.

I think if the Cowboys take EE, who would takr a ton of pressure off Romo and the D, the Cowboys will run away with the NFC East.

That line and a talent like Elliot would get them a 1,500+ yard rusher.
