Here are the rules. This will be a head to head tournament. For efficiency's sake, I will run four heats in each thread.

Therefore, I will put up four pairs of candies. For each pair, you will identify the candy that you would most like to have at the moment of voting. It doesn't necessarily have to be your favorite candy overall, just the one that sounds good right now. For visualization purposes, you may assume that you're out trick or treating (dressed as a pirate), and the woman at the door is offering you your choice of two options. You can only pick one, or if you would turn them both down, you can pick zero (not to be confused with the Zero bar).

So to summarize, you will vote for four candies in each thread, one candy per heat. And here they are!

Heat 37: Marzipan Fruit Candy versus Fruit Mentos

I was thinking the same thing about Cherry Mash. That is some nasty tasting crap. :shake: I'm not sure if you could get a pig to eat it and those fuckers will eat almost anything.

My votes:

Fruit Mentos over Marzipan Fruit Candy. I don't really like Marzipan, and I identify strongly with the people in the Mentos commercials. Or at least, I like the candy.

Hershey's Kisses (regular) over Ring Pops. I like the simple and effective drop of chocolate concept, and I'm not five years old. So kisses win.

Twix over Ritter Sports Chocolate with Corn Flakes. Twix really has the right formula. I can always eat some Twix. I've got nothing against the Ritter, but the corn flake inclusion seems rather odd and I'm not a huge fan of corn flakes.

Cherry Mash over Tootsie Roll. I feel guilty about this because I haven't had a Cherry Mash (or at least not since I was a child), and I really like Tootsie Rolls. But that Cherry Mash picture is really effective marketing, and at this particular moment it looks really good. So I'll follow the rules and select the candy that I would pick right now if both were offered.

Was there a limit on the number of nominations per person? Shit like fucking Ring Pops sounds like someone trolling or someone throwing out every candy under the fucking sun into the hat just because.

We have individual markers that make us unique because we don't always agree, but I think you may be right.

I suspect that it wasn't nominated because it was the nominator's favorite candy, but who am I to judge? Maybe he's out there sucking down Ring Pops every day.

Sounds like a smellyshits entry. The fatass nominated like 50 candies as soon as it started.

Ring Pop's challenge is not just age demographics, but also its opponent. Hershey's Kisses aren't going to try to get fancy. They're strong, relentless, and they don't make mistakes. They're the Ulysses S. Grant of this tournament.

Voted:

Fruit Mentos. Not a big fan of marzipan.
Ring Pops. Standard Hershey's chocolate without anything in it is foul.
Ritter Sport w/ Cornflakes. Just like a crunch bar but made with much better german chocolate.
Toostie roll. Never had a cherry mash. Tootsie rolls are just okay.

This tournament has convinced me that the vast majority of CP has no sense of taste in the literal sense.

I once almost got a girl pregnant in 5th grade when I gave her a ring pop.

It's got my vote!

I love marzipan, but whenever I see Mentos, I think of the Bloodsport spoof.

Also Ritter is great, but with cornflakes?! Someone shit the bed on that. Hazelnuts mother****er.

Milk chocolate over dark chocolate was a tragic mistake.

One thing these threads have taught me is that nostalgia has a lot to do with my candy choices. I'm not looking at it as what I enjoy now. I'm looking at it as what did I absolutely love when I was a kid. You know, back when candy really mattered, because you couldn't always get it whenever you wanted it, so you had to make the right choices whenever mom said yes.

For that reason, I am one of the few who chose Ring Pops. They remind me of the skating rink. Also, I probably appreciate them more being a female. What little girl doesn't love getting a big ol' diamond ring? And one made of sugar! Plus, I don't tend to like tiny pieces of individually foil wrapped candy. I love Reece's, but I don't tend to get the bite sized ones for that reason. Also why I don't get Rolos as much.

I find that I don't tend to try new candy bars very often. If you've got a Nutrageous and a Take 5 on the shelf next to classics like peanut butter cups and M&Ms, I'll go with the classics pretty much every time. In my case, I think it's less about nostalgia and more about pleasure management, though. I know that I'm really going to like the classics, so why take the risk of being disappointed by something new? It's not the right attitude, I think, but it's how my brain decides.

And I never bought a Ring Pop. Those seem way too gaudy for a guy.

That would be considered child abuse in 38 states. What did you do to piss off your Mom?
