The worlds fastest sprinter Christain Coleman runs a 4.12 40, yes Hill is fast by he's not on that level. I can see a 4.28ish at anytime however.

He holds the WR in the 60 at 6.34. he is the current World Champion at 100m.

While Hill was in the NCAA he could have been in the Olympic 200m mix he was that fast. He is talking about a come back.

While a JC the only cat who could beat him was Canadian Andre DeGrasse who is the third ranked sprinter in the world right now.

How fast they run on pavement.
Dont mean FUCK to me.
Put some pads on and lets see you run

Good for them. But I dont care what they do on a track.
How do you run sideline to sideline in pads.
How well do you back pedal and then turn and run in full pads?
Full pads, full pads, full pads.
The rest is meaningless if you cant run in

Full pads

What happens when they have to have him bulk up to make it in the NFL? He slows down and then throw pads on him.

He will always be super fast but will he be football fast? :hmmm:

What you aren't getting is pads are the same for everybody, a 4.3 guy will still be faster than a 4.5 guy.

Another thing to consider is the pads are just an extra layer of variable that could affect times. Are all pads created equal? You want to record speed in it's purest form possible.

That would depend on the route. If simply and out and up yes speed makes a huge difference for both athletes.

When Bullet Bob Hayes came into the NFL who do the Giants bring in at cornerback.....Henry Carr, the Olympic 200m champ. His job was run with Hayes who he could beat at 200m.

Yeah, I admit I was pretty outraged by the allegations at the outset of this saga and wanted Hill turfed. I jumped to conclusions because I trusted the narrative being sold by supposedly “credible” sources. I also see the damage done to young people from domestic abuse on a daily basis in my line of work, so this story really hit home.

In a way, it is arguably more disturbing to witness what has unfolded in this story of manipulation, gold digging, character assassination, and the way in which these allegations were aggressively pursued against Hill. Really scary that people would stoop to this for their own personal gain ignoring the welfare of a child, which took a backseat for some who wanted to be heroes for breaking this story and advancing a social justice crusade.

Glad I was wrong, because it looks like justice won out here - not because Hill is a player that is on my favourite team: young Zev now has a chance - and I can guess that Tyreek also grew out of this unfortunate experience. Although I am a little uncomfortable that all of this has made me a more skeptical person regarding “the truth”, I take solace in the fact that there still is such a thing as a happy ending.

There were literally zero reasons to jump to conclusions regarding Hill; there was nothing to be gained from jumping the gun and not waiting for the process to play out. From the beginning, it was clear that we were getting one side of the story. There was certainly never a reason to release him.

He was seriously thinking about trying to make our 2020 Olympic team, well, they have been cancelled.

If he'd stayed in track it's very realistic to think he'd be in our 200m mix, but ya can't leave the sport and come back. Those he'd be competing against have been training for years.

When Tyreek was in HS he ran a 20.14 200m. which at that time was the second fastest in history for a HS kid (Roy Martin 20.13). The guy had legit "world class" speed.

Roy Martin went on to run in the 88 Olympics.

Not even remotely close to being an accurate way to time.

As far as competing... Only thing he would be missing out on is the stress of running against a human instead of a clock. No reason, if he was fast enough, he could not jump in and compete now.

Bob Hayes was running a 10.06 100m on a dirt track over 50 years ago and he has always been the fastest pro football player.

People forget in 1964 he was only 22 years old and still in college, if he'd stayed in the sport (couldn't afford to) he's running a 9.88 UP in Mexico City 1968 beating Jimmy Hines to win that Olympic gold, and he also takes down Valery Borzov in 1972 (now 30) to win another Olympic gold.

I agree if they ran the 40 at the Olympics, but they don't. A 100m takes an over abundance of speed endurance at the world class/Olympic level, without that ability to sustain/maintain a large % of your max velocity/topend you can forget it. It's all about decellerating at a slower pace, something that takes work and over distance training, speed alone means nothing. Sprinters reach that MV around 70ish then it becomes all about speed endurance.

You are ****ing clueless.

You have never ran the sprints have you?

TRAINING FOR THE 100 METER DASH
Given that the 100m dash lasts only 9 to 10 seconds at the highest levels of competition, 100m sprinters have little room for error. Because of this, 100m dash sprinting workouts must be performed throughout the year to prepare for competition. Sprinting workouts for the 100m dash help athletes in various ways, including:

Developing the speed, power, an***** endurance required to sprint with maximal effort for 100 meters.
Rehearsing the race and each of its parts - such as the acceleration phase, the maximal velocity phase, and the**** speed endurance & deceleration phase.
Preventing injury by developing the tissues of the body for the demands of sprinting at maximal intensity levels.

See ya learned something.

I could run a 40 right now, noway in hell I could run a 100m HUGE difference. Why? Yep....total lack of any endurance for sprinting.

Usain Bolt won the 100 meters because of his speed endurance. I've said this all along, unless you are running a 40 yard dash or 50 meter sprint, sprinting the 100, 200, or 400 meters is all about speed endurance… reach your top speed, and maintain it.

If you don't get that I can't help ya.

That would be cool.

There have been TONS of legit 100m sprinter/football players like Tyreek Hill, Bob Hayes, Jacoby Ford, Ron Brown, Sam Graddy all could run a sub10.10 (Hill 10.19 but..HS) Then there are guys like John Ross, Joey Galloway, Chris Johnson who are just fast footballers, yep a 40 about it for them.

NFLers to be Ron Brown and Sam Graddy taking 4th and second at the 84 Olympics.

Christian McCaffreys grandpa Dave Sime took the 1960 Olympic silver in the 100m

The Cowboys drafted Carl Lewis, but I do doubt his kind of speed wouldn't work in football. He came on late in his races.(actually decelerated at a slower pace)

That's freakin awesome. I'm so glad to hear of Hill being an actual role model and father figure to that young boy. The media had him pegged as this evil guy who deserved ti rot away in jail the remainder of his life. One douche bag threatened to quit reporting if the Chiefs didn't outright cut the guy without waiting to see if it was actually true or not. Where's fat @$$ Brooke with a follow up story of how she misjudged his character. You'll never hear it, because they never admit fault and that some people just outright lie about crap for their personal gain. Why has his girlfriend not been charged for lying and potentially ruining a man's career? Tyreek proved a LOT of people wrong who love the drama and jump to conclusions. And thanks to the Chiefs for waiting it out, then giving the man his contract extension after doing their OWN homework first. Without Hill, I don't think we would have been in the Superbowl last year.

That's interesting.

He's in lane one, in lane two NFLer to be Frank Budd, in lane three NFLer to be Ray Norton.

Dave Sime is still considered to be one of the top 3/4 white American sprinters ever.

Mecole is fast but Tyreek Hill is on a whole other level.

There was a time when....

DeAnthony Thomas...Tyreek Hill***...Sammy Watkins...McCole Hardman

....were the fastest 4x1 team in the NFL.

*** you want your stud here, the plan is to get him the stick early in the zone with him handing off late in the next zone, this way he runs the largest % of the race,

Tyreek out of the blocks is beyond explosive, and it seems like it takes a step or three for Mecole to reach top gear. Would love to see the race.

Two things about that clip -

1) When Damien Williams kicks into gear at the 20, Tyreek is flat footed at the 20 and 20-25 yards away. That he overtakes him with 15 yards to go to the endzone is just insane

B) I will never not chuckle watching Tyreek chase down Damien Williams (TWICE!) lol

I always feel a little bit for Damien here. That juke move was the best move I've ever seen Damien put on anyone and for him to turn on the jets right after to go all the way was spectacular. That was a must win game with Moore and was a huge turning point in the game.

And yet, almost everyone's focus was Reek's unreal speed to catch him - I don't blame anyone for that. Watching him do it again against San Diego was surreal too.

It's insane, really. Tyreek makes some of the fastest athletes on the planet look slow while Usain Bolt would dust Hill in a 100m.

I'd like to be on ground level of an Olympic 100m one day just to experience how fast the .001% truly are.

It’s remarkable.

Tyreeks speed isn’t just track speed though he changes direction so effortlessly, it’s silly. If you told Bolt he had to get a hand on Reek I don’t think he could even get close.

The world should be thankful our freak athletes play football and not soccer. I'm not saying all of them would transfer well to a different sport, but somebody like Tyreek would kick ass.

Reek may not have the stamina to be an elite player, but he’d make some dudes look awful silly.

That play also made me frustrated to see that 2017 offense again. You had glimpses like this that showed what it could be, but all too often Alex would fall just short of taking it to its potential. Still - I feel for Alex. This offense paired with the 2015 defense would have been a monster to stop.

If this core group can get 2 more rings while producing at the same/similar level, I think we are looking at the HOF for the below dudes.

For Sure:

I would switch Hill and Schwartz. I believe it's very likely that Schwartz makes it into the HOF if he ends his career with a total of 3 rings, and plays at or near the same level for the duration.

I think if he continues to put up numbers, Hill may get in, but it will probably be in the second window. I think he will more than likely need to improve his reputation significantly during his playing days. Whether he is innocent or not, or whether his current reputation is earned or not, it will affect the voters.

Once his son is 18, if he publicly stated that he was never abused by Tyreek, that might go a long way to helping Tyreek make a case.

Too early.

A lot of WR's burn fast and bright, then fade quickly.

The NFL isn't quite like MLB in this regard, but for many players, it's not their peak that gets them in the hall - it's the latter half of their careers.

You look at guys like Tom Glavine - Had he gotten hurt at 33 years old, he'd have probably been a fringe guy who just didn't quite get over the hump. But he was an effective pitcher for another 6-8 years after that, won another 120 games and got in.

CC Sabathia had as good/better a career going through age 31 as Glavine then crashed and burned. I doubt he gets there.

Tyreek Hill isn't gonna qualify under the 'Sandy Koufax/Gale Sayers' sort of 'was transcendent for 5 years' umbrella. Not in the passing age with exploding receiving stats.

He needs to have Steve Smith's longevity. And in about 5 years, we can start to have that conversation.

The thing that will hurt Schwartz is that when the voters look at his record, he won't have any (or many) pro bowls, and that's often how linemen are judged. The only reason he doesn't get pro bowls because they always put left tackles in there instead of right tackles, which I think is a travesty. But in the end, it'll hurt him.

So that brings up a question. Is Schwartz a right tackle because he can't play left tackle? Is right tackle solely a position for players who are lesser than left tackles? I think that's the perception, but more and more we see good pass rushers lining up on the strong side, and half the time the tight ends are moving around so the strong side isn't even the strong side any more. I think Schwartz is being victimized by an antiquated view of what the right tackle does.

He definitely had no shortage of talent lining up against him in 2019 -- something I didn't fully appreciate until watching Kollmann this week. Pretty telling that the Niners did not line Bosa up against Schwartz a single time. Watching Kollmann made me realize that an all talent, high motor guy like Ford really did not have a chance against Mitch (especially with Ford's injury).

Yeah, gun to my head I'd say he'll age well.

But you can't know until you know. And the NFL is littered w/ fluke injuries. I'm pretty sure Hill's legs are built in such a way that he could cut harder than most guys without ligaments in his knee at all so he's going to be pretty well protected there. And those short strides should keep him from being over-exposed.

Everything in terms of his build suggests durability - but weird shit happens in this game.

ThaVirus

Tyreek's game is a pretty good mix of prime Steve Smith and Desean Jackson. They both aged fairly well so I'd imagine Hill has a good chance of doing so as well.

The fact that he's rounded out his game and is not just a fast gadget player gives me a lot of hope. You could make Reek a 4.5 guy and he probably wouldn't be elite anymore but he'd still be better than average. If he's able to retain his legendary speed as well as guys like Darrell Green and Deion Sanders the sky really is the limit.

Using baseball analogies again - guys like Ricky Henderson and Kenny Lofton aged really well. Vince Coleman was a trash baseball player who couldn't get on base to save his life and he stole 50 bases in the partial '94 season at 32 yrs old.

Having speed to spare helps because when you lose some, you still have plenty. And that's how it went for some of those hyper-athletic guys.

I like these last 2 games. 32 targets in 2 games. It'd usually take 5-6 games for that many targets.

Reek not only has straight speed, but some of the quickest feet in the NFL (he would have been an amazing soccer player if he grew up in Europe).

Even if he had average top-end speed, he would still be an Antonio Brown type. He could very well end up as a Julian Edelman clone when he gets to his upper 30s.

Yes, this exactly.

I think the Bucs looked at last week's gameplan and decided they wanted to shut down Kelce and take their chances with Tyreek over the top.

That didn't last long because then they had to let the underneath stuff open up.

I think they thought Mahomes would hit a couple, miss a couple, and Brady would be enough to counter.

Mahomes just fucking HIT THEM ALL. LMAO

Thing is, their gameplan after the first quarter probably would have beaten the Chiefs, especially if they had not had rotten luck with those two picks.

This stat is actually specific to the age. It's most 40 yard TDs by 26 years old. Moss had 46 total touchdowns over 40 yards when he retired.

Still though, Hill is on pace to break that pretty easily by the time he retires.

Fwiw, Jerry Rice had 55 which is ridiculous.

It's crazy that he was in the league for 20 years and if not for an injury in 97 he would have had 19 consecutive years or 800 or more receiving yards. The only year that he didn't hit 800 or more yards was when he was 42. His career receiving records will never be broken. No one is going to even come close to his yards and TDs.

Most of the guys that play well past 10 years just seem to stay around and suck shit through the twilight years. Not Jerry Rice. Dude knew exactly when to retire and didnt milk it.

GOAT had game speed.ESPN or Fox had a piece last week talking about the 40 and how it isn't always indicative of a players speed.

I forgot the RB they were using as an example, but he had a long TD run, and the last 30 yards he pulled away from corners who had better 40 times.

The RB ran a 4.6 and the corners ran 4.3 & 4.4 at the combine. The explained that runners like Ross stride and explode like sprinters, but some runners stride with power and their speed builds.

That's why the RB pulled away, because he had a 60+ yard TD run, and had time for his power to create speed.

He’s the best WR in my (biased) opinion.

Hardest guy to cover 1-on-1, you have to provide safety help at all times and I’m not sure that can be said for any other WR. Tracks the ball as good as anybody, makes insane catches, tough in traffic. I’d take him over anybody.

Tony Gonzalez - 76
Otis Taylor - 57
Chris Burford - 55
Stephone Paige - 49
Tyreek Hill - 45
Travis Kelce - 44

Kelce will have a tough time catching Tony G on this list. Hill will probably get there in 3-4 years.

It's insane because he's a speed receiver but also a possession receiver, jump ball expert, and a red zone threat who can play every skill position aside from TE.

He really is the ultimate weapon.

His only "weakness" is that he's 5'8". If he were 6'2" he would be getting early GOAT recognition.
