Fuck yeah. A+ pick in my mind. I was pimping this guy early on. Love him. Aggressive, good tackler, can play the ball. Great slot CB type.

Seems like a solid pick. Throw numbers in the DB and hope a few stick.

And he had the 9th best speed-weight-juggling ratio ability among DBs in the Georgia University System at this draft!

Seems Dorsey still has the Pats loss fresh in his mind.

We needed to upgrade the CB's group-and it looks like we have.

Don't know much about him, but looking at his highlights he's made some crazy ass game changing plays/picks.

My "scouting report" from when I last mocked him:
"White is a well built, athletic player with good musculature and strength for his size. Excellent press coverage. Good short area quickness and solid deep speed. Flexible athlete, exhibiting excellent body control to turn and play the football. Click and close defender against the run and hits with authority using textbook form. Fluid hips and quick feet in transition. Reads the quarterback and breaks on balls well. Experienced in press man and off man. High points on the ball and breaks up quite a few plays. Excellent field awareness to find ball-carriers away from his area. Hustle player. May struggle against larger receivers and top-flight speed."

Good to see Dorsey feels the same way I did about our depth at CB last year, but goddamn 5 CB's in the last 2 years.

Dorsey buying lottery tickets for the CB position. He'll hit on 1 of these IMO

I like all 3, Russell and White especially. Dorsey did his homework on DB's if nothing else.

...unless he's not

We still know nothing about whether or not he can play. All these rookie CBs have to do is outplay Nelson, and that's totally possible. Two of them can play the slot (what Nelson is good for).

Which is exactly how a roster should be built.

Continue to bring in competition year after year, regardless of the current roster.

I'd imagine Nelson makes it. That's pretty quick to move away from a 3rd round pick

The scout that scouted Murray said he has the athleticism to play the slot but didn't really play that role at Minnesota.

Sounds like the Chiefs like him as a tough outside CB.

Agreed. The guy was a 3rd round pick, not 3rd overall.

But Dorsey's not standing pat, which I like.

You cannot have too many CB's/S in today's NFL. If too many turnout good then you don't have to pay 5-15mil a year for a FA or a 2nd contract quality starter unless you choose to.

In terms of round value, might be the best pick made by KC.

PRO DAY RESULTS

Vertical: 34 inches

ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS Team captain and three-year starter. Patient from press coverage and plays with balance. Disrupts receivers with well-*placed jabs. Plays with desired feel for his man throughout the route, working to stay in his pocket. Good short-area quicks to squeeze routes and close on throws. Challenges catch without running through receivers. Good leaper with high-*point ability. Instinctive and disciplined. Attacks catch point rather than man when in position. Forced a fumble all four years at Ga Tech. Should not be limited by scheme.

WEAKNESSES Needs to get head around earlier with back to the ball. A little clunky flipping hips and changing directions sharply. Recovery speed is very average. Play strength needs improvement to challenge NFL size on perimeter. Waits on receiver after short catch giving away valuable yards after catch rather than attacking downhill. Head ducker in run support and finishes with arm tackles over chest*-up approach.

DRAFT PROJECTION Round 3

NFL COMPARISON Justin Bethel

BOTTOM LINE While White is just a shade smaller and slower than teams usually like outside, he makes up for it with his instincts, athleticism and cover skills. White is relatively clean in coverage and is able to stick to his targets, but may not take enough chances to become a ball *hawk who takes the ball away. White's ball skills and feel for the position could put him in position for early snaps as a third corner and he has eventual starter potential.
