so if that link is accurate, WR Mitch Mathews signed. 6' 6" with a 36" vertical.

More than just a big tall WR, Mathews has good body control and hand eye coordination. He can tap his toes in bounds while falling backwards or adjust to poorly thrown balls and makes improbable catches even when the defender has better position. You don’t see a lot of guys who are this big and this fluid in one package.

Mathews was a special teams gunner at BYU. He used his sub 4.5 speed to race down the field and make plays in kick coverage. He also showed the ability to use his length and body control in keeping the ball from bouncing into the end zone, resulting in a touchback. Special team ability adds significant value.

OL Ben Clarke

according to draftwire

At Hawaii he played center during his first two seasons then at left tackle for his last two years. An ‘iron man’ player, Clarke started every game of his college career. He was named his team’s MVP in 2015.

Clarke is list as 6-foot-2.5, 305 pounds. In 2015, he was named Hawaii’s MVP and was an honorable mention All-Mountain West Conference selection all four years with the team. Named to the academic All-Mountain West team, Clarke majored in biology.

According to NFLDraftScout.com, Clarke’s best run of the 40-yard dash was 5.10 seconds. At Hawaii’s Pro Day on March 22, he did 19 reps of 225 pounds. He made a 30-inch vertical jump and an 8-foot-8 broad jump. In spite of a hamstring injury, he ran a 4.95-second 20-yard shuttle run and an 8.03-second three-cone drill.

http://www.staradvertiser.com/sports/sports-breaking/former-uh-offensive-lineman-ben-clarke-signs-with-kansas-city-chiefs/

Former University of Hawaii football player Ben Clarke has signed a free-agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Out of everyone, I thought they showed the most interest,” said Clarke, who also received pre-draft inquiries from the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans. “I’m excited about it.”

Clarke said he spent the day watching most of the NFL draft with his family.

“I kind of thought I wasn’t going to get drafted so it wasn’t that big of a deal,” Clark said of not being selected.

Clarke played center for two years with UH before shifting to left tackle for the final two years of his college career. He is projected to play center or guard with the Chiefs.

The Chiefs showed extra attention to Clarke during last month’s pro day in Azusa, Calif. The Kansas City coach requested that Clarke snap the football in field drills instead of serving as a tackle.

well, who besides Maclin, Conley, and Wilson are the set pieces at WR (I realize that DAT is still here but who's counting on him at this point?)? Every other spot is a toss-up so he has a chance to land 1 of 3 remaining roster spots at the position.

He has to beat all of these guys

Da'Ron Brown
Chris Conley
Kenny Cook
Frankie Hammond Jr
Tyreek Hill
Jeremy Maclin
Kashif Moore
Demarcus Robinson
Rod Streater
De'Anthony Thomas
Mike Williams
Fred Williams
Albert Wilson

You have to figure if the two veterans have anything left in the tank they can beat everyone on that list that's not named Maclin. The UDFA would also have to beat out the two actual guys we spent draft picks on. And you can't forget everyones favorite Fred Williams, he would have to outshine him in preseason.

Sure, but compare the situation here with other teams across the league. The majority of them have WR cores that are either more established or filled with more highly touted players/highly drafted guys who are still being given time to show their goods. Here the only two WRs who have really been an investment for the Chiefs are Maclin and Conley while Wilson has established himself as a solid contributor/developmental piece.

ILB. He's a long, athletic, rangy kid. One of those S/LB hybrids.

His first cousin is DeAndre Hopkins.

Just met him last week, but he's a great kid. Excited about us getting him.

Wilson is easily replaceable.

I agre, but at worst with the current roster and Reid's bias against playing guys who are fresh to the NFL and don't show an advanced understanding of his system, Wilson will be the #3/4 guy this year.

I really can't believe he went undrafted, though. Look at any highlight video of him from college and how can you not be willing to spend at least a late round pick on that kind of player?

It's totally why I took him for the Packers in the CP Mock. He's actually got the chance to start at ILB in the NFL and also play multiple positions, unlike Matekevich, Wright, and a bunch of those other one-dimensional try-hard 2-down clowns that got drafted. And that's IF they ever graduate beyond pure special teams drone in this league.

Smith could totally crack the 53 this year and challenge for playing time on defense.

Agreed. I thought he'd go a round later than his former teammate Telvin Smith (Jags 5th rounder in '14). He's turned out to be a steal. Very similar players, but Telvin's a little better.

Agreed. I know it's lower level competition like you said, but honestly that might be he beat tape I've ever seen from a DB ever. I know that's saying a lot but wow. He's definitely going to be someone to watch at camp and see if he can do this vs elite WRs and QBs

The way he is always watching the QB reminds me of Peters. Definitely need to see how we holds up to NFL caliber players but the mental part is there.

Last night, when the bitching began, it did only list 2 signees.

Looking at the list today, it doesn't include the corner that NIU posts a video on.

So, it may yet be fully updated.

Yeah I don't think it is quite yet. This is just a list some pats fan puts together. Here's the link to Tre Jones Twitter though saying he signed w KC. Hopefully the final list comes out soon

He has to beat all of these guys

Da'Ron Brown
Chris Conley
Kenny Cook
Frankie Hammond Jr
Tyreek Hill
Jeremy Maclin
Kashif Moore
Demarcus Robinson
Rod Streater
De'Anthony Thomas
Mike Williams
Fred Williams
Albert Wilson

You have to figure if the two veterans have anything left in the tank they can beat everyone on that list that's not named Maclin. The UDFA would also have to beat out the two actual guys we spent draft picks on. And you can't forget everyones favorite Fred Williams, he would have to outshine him in preseason.

How many of them are 6'6 220+ lbs? He definitely brings something different. Seriously, why wasn't this Matthews kid drafted? Is there an answer? Can he bulk up and be our 3rd TE? Color me impressed.

He has the Jon Baldwinitis syndrome meaning he's a billion feet tall but can't beat the press and let's corners half his size bump him off his routes. Only difference is nobody was dumb enough to spend a pick on him like the Chiefs were Baldwin.

I'm not dumping on the guy the tape is impressive, but we have seen it before in Baldwin. I mean in the NFL corners jam you and bump you to disrupt your route almost every play and if you can't beat it with good balance you aren't going to have a career in the big leagues as a WR. I do hope he makes the team though, the size is impressive. I just think it's going to be hard for him, we threw draft picks at the position and brought in some veterans, some of those guys are going to have to stink it up.

anyone talking about this freak coming in for a look?

Chiefs rookie minicamp invite is called toughest player in college football, and here's why

The Kansas City Chiefs have invited a Kent State player to their rookie minicamp this weekend. That player, Nate Terhune, was once called the toughest player in college football. Why? Because HE CAME BACK FROM A BROKEN LEG IN A MONTH.

But wait! There's more!

Read this, all of it:

Terhune broke his left leg near the ankle in a Sept. 14 loss at LSU. Exactly four weeks later, following a quick rehab after surgery to implant a metal plate and some pins, he played at Ball State (Oct. 12). He didn't partake of painkillers during his rehab: "If I took them, they told me I wouldn't be able to lift weights." On Nov. 19, he hurdled over a defender to score on a 61-yard run (more of a rumble, actually) on a fake punt in what turned into a rout of Ohio.

He's listed at 6'4 and 287 pounds.

As a big NIU fan, I watch a lot of MAC football. This guy may be super tough coming back so quick from a broken leg and had a cool highlight on the fake punt, but he never did much as an offensive lineman that I remember. Was never an All Mac selection or anything like that. Usually you need to dominate the conference in the MAC to have a shot at it translating over to the pros. Hell, Fisher was the 1st pick in the draft and it look him a few years to figure it out. I doubt this guy makes the team unfortunately
