The Jaguars signed a free agent left tackle this offseason, then declined to pick up the 2017 option on the former No. 2 overall pick’s contract.

Now, they may be seeing if he can do something else.

According to Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union, Joeckel took snaps at guard during today’s OTAs.

That’s a first for the former No. 2 overall pick, who has yet to live up to his draft-day expectations but has been a serviceable-enough player.

The Jaguars have said they wanted to keep Joeckel around, but weren’t prepared to pay him $11.9 million in 2017.

After they signed former Steelers left tackle Kelvin Beachum, it’s obvious they’re not convinced he’s a long-term answer at the premium position on the line, and the fact they’re looking at him inside is an interesting experiment during early workouts.

Of course, since it’s the Jaguars, they’re probably just grateful he didn’t suffer a season-ending injury.

So... Eric Fisher is the 2nd best player picked in the top 10 of that draft so far right?

Ezekiel Ansah is the only player though that would also be top 10 in any other draft.

Hard to remember every pick but IIRC Star Lotululei went #11. What about Sheldon Richardson? He's obviously got off the field issues but he's probably been a more impactful player than Fish Daddy thus far.

Don't bring Sheldon up. That's a wound that's not completely healed.

But fwiw, I don't think you can go with him at 1 with all his of field stuff

Hmm. Well then.. Just an epically bad top 10 to have the top pick.

.. Because Chiefs..

Fish is now a respectable/solid starter.

You can't say that for most of that draft. We just happened to pull a Chiefs and get the no 1 in a year it had no value...

It really is amazing to be honest. The worst top 10 in probably a decade plus and that's the one we have the #1 pick in.

I've said it before, but just imagine that we took Kelce 1.1 and Fish Daddy in the 3rd until further notice. With any luck, Fisher will become a premier LT and we won't need to justify the pick any longer.

guys I remember being in the running for top pick:
Fisher, Joeckel, Ansah, Jordan, Richardson, Star

Star slid cause of that heart red flag
Richardson had the lazy tag
Was there a flag on Jordan? injury? tweener? drugs?
in the end it came down to Fish, Joeckel, Ansah and I think they made the right call but I remember Dorsey working all those guys out before the draft, I remember Andy Reid talking about Ansah, Jordan, Richardson etc

Jordan lit himself on fire, I think, so he had a "wtf" tag

Dane and I had a debate about Jordan. My stance was that you shouldn't spend a top five pick on a guy who set himself on fire siphoning gas with a vacuum cleaner.

This is poll from 2013 is interesting.

While I voted Dion Jordan as the biggest bust of the 2013 draft, Trent Richardson ran away with the voting.

Him at guard is just more proof that Dorsey did the best he could and made the best he could have from a pathedic draft class.

The Non-busts are Luck, Bortles, Fisher from that group, and probably in that order.

I remember a lot of pre draft debate over Joekel and Fisher

it was generally agreed Fisher was more raw but had higher upside.

Looks like that's turned out to be true.

Fisher had 1 off season program and his progress from that year was remarkable. I believe it was Milkman who said Fisher had the most upside out of any tackle in that draft. Hes finally healthy and it's no coincidence we are seeing a good player.
