This is disturbing. I was staying at a hotel two blocks away from this murder just a couple of weeks ago, and my car was parked a block away. It seemed like a reasonably safe neighborhood.

So do we think this was a random thing or were they particularly targeting this woman? I don't understand why they would immediately shoot one woman and leave the other one alive to identify them. And all they did was take the car and then abandon it (with the baby inside) a short distance away.

There is a reason I have a reasonably well paying job with little fear of a downturn in employment figures and these two turds are perfect examples as to why.

St. Louis is a shithole.

I went to a few Cardinals games last summer. We stayed at the Magnolia just a few blocks from Busch, like a 5 minute walk. There seemed to be a pretty good police presence around Ball Park Village at night, but the further you got away from it, the sketchier it got.

Sunday morning when we got up, they said 3 people had been murdered, and there was like 5 separate shootings all within a few miles of our hotel.

I like St Louis unlike most people, but man, it's ghetto.

They need stricter gun laws like Chicago and that will fix it.

i may be wrong, but I doubt it was a setup.

sometimes when criminals act together, they start with a plan, and one goes off script, that appears to me to be the case.

This, except replace Blues games for me. I always stay at Magnolia or Embassy Suites.

Downtown St Louis has nice restaurants/bars/things to do, but it is a shit hole of a city (residents-wise). This is why I'm a KC-area resident who happens to cheer for Blues hockey (which is also a shit hole after last nights 3rd period turd)

I kind of wonder that, too. I'm thinking that the murderer got an adrenaline rush and just started shooting. It's pretty much a sure thing that they'll be caught, so he totally screwed the other criminal over.

I like downtown St. Louis, I like the western suburbs. From the airport to downtown, north of the zoo is just world class ghetto trash.

One of the nights me and my buddy decided to walk over to the casino. That was one of the few times i actually wished i had my gun on my. Low lifes milling around everywhere. That too was less than a mile walk. We decided to take a cab back to the hotel. The cabbie acted dumbfounded.

I always have a good time in STL, but it doesn't feel safe.

I stayed in Hammond IN at a Hotel next to where the Gary IN serial killer was found. They had cops in our lobby one night, I asked them what was up and they were like oh nothing. Then I read about it in the news the next day. I figure If I'm not a hooker, the chances of me being raped and murdered go down tremendously.

Actually, reading it again, maybe they didn't abandon the car. Maybe they just abandoned the baby. It seems like a huge risk to just steal a car.

If it makes you feel better, there have been around a dozen murders within a mile of your house in the past five years. :)

Not in my neighborhood. Those are people in other neighborhoods arguing at Arby's.

That's a very good theory. When they had the downtown parade last year for Peyton Manning's trophy, Von Miller showed up and within 15 minutes there was a house on fire. True story.

For whatever reason, even though Washington Avenue is considered one of the streets that has a night life in downtown, it also is somewhat dangerous.

The city itself pretty much is a ghost town after 5 except after or during sporting events during the week. A lot of people like going to the suburbs.

Which I don't understand. Aside from Clayton, no suburb has any remote distinction of a downtown area aside from maybe Kirkwood or Webster Groves. Ladue is probably one of, if not the, most affluent areas in the state with restaurants spread out everywhere and Chesterfield ****ing sucks.

The entire St. Louis area would be better off if Metro extended westward into Chesterfield, but that's never going to happen.

Drugs and/or alcohol (as if there's much of a difference) were involved, damn near guaranteed. Don't expect sane, rational, clean, sober decisions or reasons. Users just do things and stuff just happens.

We were quite surprised at how deserted the downtown was. Denver has lots of activity downtown at night, so we expected something similar, and St. Louis was a ghost town. That's not a good thing.

A lot of that has to do with the decline of the city's population as a whole and more people moving into the western suburbs.

Reason #1001 for why I would never move to St. Louis.

It's right after recent addition at reason #1000.....no NFL team.

You all give me a reality check. Grew up just south of Barry Rd., back when it was a 2 lane road...death trap. Military, life happened, now live out in the country 45 miles NW of St. Joe. The nearest house is 1/2 mile away.

Got 3 big dogs, 4 lawn lions (cats)...I don't know where my house keys are? Never locked my doors in 23 yrs. I figured if the dogs and lions don't scare them off, I sure don't want them to bust out my windows to grab a TV. Let them have it.

This is my slice of heaven:)

Until you need a widget from Lowes...3 hrs round trip:(
