First Ken Starr, now Art Briles.

Something really fucked up happened at Baylor.

Yes, the systematic 'sweeping under the rug' of rape and sexual assault for years.

Before you turn this into another KU vs MU thread, let me just say you should really charge the University of Missouri rent for living in your head.

Although a no brainer, still surprised it happened in the big time college football world that it is today.

That's criminally negligent if true. That's way beyond just a firing.

It's mentioned several times that Waco and campus police helped with the cover up. If true, heads should roll there too.

Dave Bliss smearing a murdered player and now this.

Yes I know Miami hasn't had a clean past either, but it didn't approach the shit that has gone down at Baylor.

Wow. 14

When I first saw the headline he had been fired this morning I thought typical knee jerk reaction, someone has to pay and the quicker you find a scapegoat the quicker you move on from it. But 14 counts of rape with no action taken?

This went way beyond just Art Briles covering it up. As only the HC hes not powerful enough to hide that all on his own. Sounds like more heads should roll.

Yep, this religious school (Baptist) has had problems for many years now. Hopefully they will actually get it cleaned up this time.

Perhaps I should correct myself. 14 instances of criminal activity that was reported to the team or police. I was led to believe that they were rape/sexual assault incidents, but I'm not absolutely certain. I apologize for jumping to conclusions.

Of course, nobody was kicked off of the team or anything though

Ha, nice.

In all seriousness though, I just read excerpts from the Findings of Fact that Baylor released from the Pepper Hamilton report. All I can say is Holy Sh!t! Pepper Hamilton shredded them. Briles is a total PoS. Unbelievable. He even helped cover up a gang rape by several players.

They even go so far as to state that the cover ups likely resulted in more rapes happening. Scary thing is there are still some Baylor fans and players trying to defend the guy. If you read that report and still want to defend him, you may be clinically insane. He's got serious legal issues coming his way, this will haunt him for years...as it should.

They cite a failure to report "a sexual assault by several football players", and on the Texas website I go to often and which has been all over this story all along, the reporters confirmed that it means what it states, "a" sexual assault by "several players".

After that David Bliss mess? I'm having a hard time buying it. You'd think they'd be more diligent, but this looks much worse.

Isn't Briles a religious freak?

I guess it's okay for your players to rape as long as the rape on the field, also.

The whole thing is disgusting.

How much is a schools reputation worth?

Multiple rapes apparently.

The school deserves the death penalty but I guess the NCAA doesn't do those anymore

It's not just covering up rape but retaliation against people making allegations.

05-27-2016, 02:14 PM
Where are the defenders of Penn State? Are you going to defend Baylor too?

I wonder if the NCAA will sanction to placate and then remove the penalties like they did for Penn State?

But,but, but .... Jo Pa is a great man!!!

You (not just you) probably want to be careful before you start throwing around accusations of covering up rape, sexual assaults, etc.

We will find out, it is not unheard of. Sadly, bad cops know they are untouchable from serious charges most of the time.
