... can either recommend a safe part of town to lodge in (I hear Ferguson is beautiful this time of year), or conversely, could offer a couch for a night in mid July? Also, recommendations for some local fare would be lovely.

I'm taking a long trip via motorcycle in a month (posted about it HERE (http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=299988)) and am having to revise my schedule just a bit.

Instead of stopping in Nashville I intend to ride right into St. Louis from North Carolina. This is strictly a food/rest/sleep thing, as I will have been on the bike for about 12 hours, so I can get back on the bike to get on home.

Downtown St. Louis I like Drury Inn, Crowne Plaza and Westin. St. Louis isn't bad just stay away North of 40 and east of 170 and you will be fine.

Downtown STL - last summer i stayed at the Magnolia, but that might be a little too much for just a place to sleep.

Also, there was a Holiday Inn on Linbergh boulevard that i stayed at one time that seemed nice.

My son is a patient.

Without shriners we would be destitute from his treatment, and it wouldnt have been half as good.

They saved our lives, and if ever I can pull it off, im going to stroke them a big fat check.

Looks like Grand Rivers is on the route between Deal's Gap and St. Louis. Thanks for the suggestion, I will definitely stop there for food on the way in!

I typically stay in Chesterfield. If I want to go downtown I park at the Metrolink station in Clayton and take the train. It drops you right by the stadium and everything is pretty much walking distance from there.

Italian food on 'The Hill' is a can't miss and I had a great meal at a place called The Shaved Duck (https://www.theshavedduck.com) in Tower Grove.

Fast Eddies is a place a lot of bikers go.
There is a great and popular bike route through that area if that's what you're doing.

If you're looking for grub, it's tough to beat the 1-2 punch of Pappy's and Southern.

Take Compton north off 64-40 through SLU campus, turn right on Olive and it's right there.
