"Josie"

When Josie comes home
So good
She's the pride of the neighborhood
She's the raw flame
The live wire
She prays like a Roman
With her eyes on fire

Seriously though: find the list of top baby names in 2015, go down to the 50th most popular girls' names and continue further down the list until you find a name that isn't something foolish (Nevaeh ), an obnoxious re-spelling of a name (Kaileey) or horribly out of date (Orva) and go from there until something strikes your fancy.

I'm kind of glad I'm not a Ryan, Justin, Brandon, Steven, Kevin, Eric or any of the more popular names that were in circulation in 1988.

I was helping out with a summer workshop for kids last month. In the 1st grade group there was a black kid. First grade, keep in mind. Puts him at about age 7. Guess what his name was. His first name.

Obama.

Yep. His parents had sex during the inauguration and made an Obama baby.

My oldest boy's (almost 19) name is Kaedin. Honestly, when I picked it I had never heard it and thought I was being original.

Funny story, I named my second son after the main character's last name from one of my favorite movies...Eric Draven of The Crow.

When he was a baby his mom and I were sitting in his pediatrician's waiting room waiting to get his second round of shots. A pregnant lady noticed him and asked what we named him. I told her and told her the story of how I picked it.

A couple years later the same lady brought her son into my ex wife's pediatrics office (she's a nurse) and when my ex saw the lady's toddler's name on his chart his name was Draven. My ex didn't remember her at first and told her we had a son named Draven too. The lady then told her that she got the name from Eric Draven of The Crow.

So not only did the bitch steal my name, she stole my story too. :cuss:

It's original, but it's kind of long and when you shorten it to "My wife" it might get you in trouble when she's ten and you're introducing her to your friends.

Seriously, go back into you and the wifes family history and bring back a rarely heard anymore old fashioned name

In the same vein you could go back into your ethnic heritage - Scot, German, Italian, whatever - and pick a name from those countries

Ok, my serious contribution -

Ashley Renee

I know there are a ton of Ashley's out there these days, but I like the way Ashley Renee sounds. Sophia is a good one as well, unless your last name is Blagawitzch. Good luck with any name if your last name is Blagawitzch.

Or Madison. Ashley Madison might not be the best name to run with these days. I'm pretty good with the obvious.

Quite a few years ago I knew a couple with a kid. They split up and the mom was a horrible person. I helped the dad get and keep physical/legal custody. Well she had another kid with the dirt bag that she left this guy for. It was a girl. She named the kid Daenerys Targaryen (insert last name here) after the character in the books. This was about 10 years ago. Don't do that. It's stupid.

What ever you do-make sure it does not have a Q or an apostrophe in the name.

Be normal.

Make it a name that when the teacher tries to pronounce it for the first time, they do not have to look confused.

Happens every year to me.
